English: We will share some lovely nonfiction texts this term which link with our topic, like ‘Great Rivers of the World’ and ‘The River: An Epic Journey to the Sea’ This will lead to us writing our own explanation texts and writing poetry on the theme of water.
Maths: This half term we will learn about… Number – Multiplication and Division --multiply and divide by 11 and 12 -multiplying 3 numbers -written methods for multiplication and division (two digit by one digit / three digit by one digit) Measure – Area - Finding area by counting squares - Comparing areas Number – Fractions - What is a fraction - Equivalent fractions

Year 4 Spring Half-term 1: ‘Water, Water Everywhere’ Science: States of Matter We will compare and group materials together, according to whether they are solids, liquids or gases and then observe that some materials change state when they are heated or cooled, and measure or research the temperature at which this happens in degrees Celsius (°C) We will learn about evaporation and condensation in the water cycle
Geography is our curriculum focus this half term. We will look at rivers, how rivers are formed, the different types of river and the way the course of the river changes over time. We will learn about land use around rivers and how humans use the rivers for trade and survival. We will learn about key rivers in the UK and compare these to rivers around the world such as the Amazon. We will link our learning with our science work when we learn about the water cycle.
