English: Non-Fiction based on the Loch Ness Monster. We will research and discuss ‘Is Nessie real?’ The children will then create their own magazine article to present their research. We will learn the new letter joins whilst practicing our weekly spellings. Maths: Place Value – Numbers to 1000. Comparing and ordering numbers. Rounding to the nearest 10 and 100. Finding 10, 100, 1000 more and less than a number. Negative numbers and Roman Numerals. Addition and Subtraction - Three-digit numbers. Crossing 10 and 100 Adding and subtracting four digit numbers with more than one exchange. Checking strategies and estimating. Times Tables Facts – rapid recall of 2, 5, 10 ,3 ,4.

Science: Sparks Might Fly! Simple electrical circuits, investigate conductivity and light a bulb using wires and switches. We will also investigate if we can create a circuit and light a bulb with a lemon?!

Year 4 Half-term 1: ‘Britain at War’

History: Britain at War. The origins of World War Two and consider what life was like for a child during the war years. We will learn about rationing, evacuation, propaganda, local history and the celebration when the war was over.

Geography: Europe and also cities of the United Kingdom. We will focus on Germany looking closely at maps and atlases to identify key physical and human characteristics, of the country. PE: Invasion games including football, netball and rugby. Understanding attacking and defending.
