English: In English, this half term we are reading traditional tales and focusing on tales with a twist. Our key text will be: The Pea and the Princess by Mini Grey. We will write a story inspired by the text and other traditional tales. We will then move onto writing instructions and poems.
Science: Our science unit this half term is called ‘Animals including Humans’. We will continue our science unit this half term and then move onto animal survival, exercise and hygiene. We will build upon Year 1 learning and continue to learn how to put animals into their correct category of either fish, mammals, amphibian, reptile or bird.
Maths: In Maths this half term we will continue with addition and subtraction and then finish the term with shape. We are moving onto number bonds and adding and subtracting using our place value learning. In our shape unit, we will look at identifying, drawing and sorting 2d and 3d shapes.
Year 2 Half-term : ‘Animal Kingdom’ Art & Design and Design Technology: In Art and DT this half term we will continue our work on textiles. Our Artist study this term is ‘Gunta Stolzl’. We will research the artist, explore the style of work and create our own art based on the style.
PE: In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE lead by our PE Coach. We will be learning the 7 fundamental skills.
