English: Our focus text this half term is – ‘The Way Home for Wolf’. Over the weeks we will share and explore the text by Rachel Bright. We will create a page for an information book on a wolf and write our own animal adventure story.
Science: Our science units this half term is called ‘Animals including Humans’. We will learn about life cycles in humans and animals. We will start with looking at the human life cycle and thinking about different milestones. Then we will move onto animals and we will research gestation periods in many animals. Did you know an elephants gestation period is 95 weeks?
Maths: In Maths this half term we will be focusing on learning place value. We will learn about tens and ones and use various ways of exploring the value of the numbers. We will then move onto addition and subtraction for 2 weeks before half term. We will learn to use lots of equipment including the part-part whole model and bar model.
Year 2 Half-term 6: ‘Animal Kingdom’ Art & Design and Design Technology: In Art and DT this half term we will be focusing on textiles. Our Artist study this term is ‘Gunta Stolzl’. We will research the artist, explore the style of work and create our own art based on the style.
PE: In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE lead by our PE Coach. We will be learning the fundamental skills.
