Northbrook Primary Academy - Homework Class: Year 1 Half-term: Summer 1 (Tuesday 19th April– 20th May) Theme: Green Fingers Instructions:  Choose and complete at least 6 activities over the course of the half-term.  Hand in through Seesaw or bring into school.  Each piece will be worth 1-10 house points.  We expect you to complete each homework task with care.  We expect you to complete each homework to the best of your ability.  Good luck! Following Instructions Choose a recipe or lego kit and practise following instructions, sticking exactly to what they say.

Answer the Question When and why was Leyland Motors founded? Who founded it?

Instructions for an alien Can you write a set of instructions teaching an alien how to wash their hands? Remember to be precise in your instructions so not to confuse anyone!

Button Multiplication

Car designers Taking inspiration from Leyland Motors, can you build a 3D model of a car? You could use boxes and cardboard or even lego!

Obstacle Course

Summer Walk Go for a walk with your family and find evidence of Summer. You can either collect artefacts or take pictures of what you find!

Guess the material Choose 5 objects from around your house. Can you label them to say what material they are made out of? Do you think that it is the best material for the object? Why? Why not?

Weekend Diary

Children’s choice Have your own homework idea linked to our topic or what we have been learning about. Extra points for creativity.

Ask an adult to time you for one minute. How many times can you jump in one minute? How tall can you make a tower in one minute? Can you write your name in one minute? What else can you do in one minute?

Can you create an obstacle course in your garden? Plan your obstacle course first so you know where everything will go then try and complete it in the fastest time possible. You could even have a competition with people in your family to see who can complete it the fastest!

Build an array using chocolate buttons! (other items such as, toys, grapes or anything else you have enough of are ok) Begin to make arrays by making equal groups and building them up in columns or rows.

Write a diary entry of something that you did over the weekend that you found exciting. Don’t forget to include time words, capital letters and full stops!
