Northbrook Primary Academy - Homework Class: Year 4 Half-term: Spring 1 (Wednesday 5th January – Monday 21st February) Theme: Water, Water Everywhere Instructions:      

Choose and complete at least 6 activities over the course of the half-term. Hand in through Seesaw or bring into school before the deadline. Each piece will be worth 1-10 house points. We expect you to complete each homework task with care. We expect you to complete each homework to the best of your ability. Good luck! We can’t wait to see your work

A rivers depth relies on rainfall. Make a rain gauge and keep a record of how much rain falls over 3 weeks. Produce a table and graph to show your results

Read some poems about a rivers journey (find on internet) and see if you can write an acrostic poem, a shape poem or your own river journey poem.

Make a model of a boat. This might be a sailing dinghy, barge, canoe, tanker or any other boat you might find on a river.

Find out about the world’s longest rivers on each continent.

Write an adventure story featuring a river. Make sure it has exciting events and language to keep the reader engaged throughout.

Design and make a bridge to cross a busy river. What will you make it out of? How will you make it a strong structure?

Try and painting your own river picture in the style of Nico Klopp

Complete some local research and find out which rivers flow through and around the Leyland area. What are they called? Where do they go to? Can you make a fact file about them?

Create your own quiz or word search using facts or key words we have used during the half term. I will try and complete your quiz!
