Personal, Social & Emotional Development: understanding emotions of others through stories, what we are good at and what others are good at, sharing ideas and understanding others may have different ideas to ourselves. Physical Development: West Lancs coaches will be with us once a week to deliver PE sessions. Understanding the need for healthy food and what healthy foods are, using fine motor skills to form recognisable letters and writing captions. Literacy: reading CVC words and phase 3 sounds, reading phase 2 and phase 3 tricky words, creating our own stories through imaginative play and segmenting sounds in words to write.

White Rose Maths: one more, one less, equal and unequal groups, how many altogether, how many are hiding, heavier and lighter, full and empty, measuring, numbers 6,7 and 8, comparing height and length and days of the week.

Reception Spring 1: ‘One Upon a Time’

Communication & Language: language linked to ‘once upon a time’ stories to enhance our imaginative play, following stories with pictures or props and being able to retell the story and understanding and using who, why how and when questions.

Understanding the world: using technology for a purpose and understanding that we make it work through our actions, cause and effect to make things work, similarities and differences of materials. Expressive Arts: expressing feelings through movement, hearing the beats in songs and moving and clapping to them, planning and creating constructions. The artist we will be looking at this half term is Piet Mondrain.
