Northbrook Primary Academy - Homework Class: Reception Half-term: Summer 2 (Tuesday 7th June– 21st July) Theme: We do like to be beside the seaside! Instructions:  Choose and complete at least 6 activities over the course of the half-term.  Hand in through Seesaw or bring into school.  Each piece will be worth 1-10 house points.  We expect you to complete each homework task with care.  We expect you to complete each homework to the best of your ability.  Good luck! We can’t wait to see your work. Subtraction Can you write 7 subtraction number sentences? E.g. 10-5=5 Can you answer you own calculations?

Reading Book Read your school reading book with an adult. Draw a picture of your favourite part of the story and write a sentence.

Following Instructions In the lighthouse keepers lunch Mr Grinling enjoys sandwiches for his lunch. With an adult’s supervision follow instructions to make a sandwich all by yourself. Take some pictures and upload them to seesaw. Create a beach Using any materials that you have, (pens, lego, playdough, junk, natural materials) to create a beach.

A Sailor went to sea… Learn the nursery rhyme, ‘A sailor went to sea’ and perform it. Record a video and upload it to seesaw.

Doubles Can you learn your doubles to 5? Double 1 is 2 Double 2 is 4 Double 3 is 6 Double 4 is 8 Double 5 is 10

Light and Dark Using a torch explore light and dark! Get an adult to hide small objects in the dark. Can you find them using a torch?

RNLI Who are the RNLI? With an adult research the RNLI and what they do. Draw a picture and write a sentence.

Make a pirate ship

Floating and sinking Choose 8 objects in your house. Do you think they will float or sink if you put them in the bath? Test out each item and write which of them float or sink.

Sharing Collect some tasty treats (e.g. smarties, biscuits, sweets) Practice sharing the items between 2 people and 3 people.

Children’s choice Have your own homework idea linked to our topic or what we have been learning about. Extra points for creativity.
