Personal, Social & Emotional Development: sharing experiences, cultural diversity, encouraging independence, communicating in small groups and one to one to share ideas. Physical Development: lots of opportunities for children to practice ball skills – throwing, catching and aiming, fine motor skills for writing, forming letter shapes, promoting self care skills. West Lancashire Coaches are with us once a week for PE. Literacy: Rich literacy environment role play. Looking at meaningful print such as children’s names. Sequencing stories, understanding the difference between the start of a story and the end.. Floppy’s Phonics; Level 2 and tricky words

White Rose Maths: representing 1, 2 and 3. Understanding 4 and 5, circles and triangles, one more and one less and 4 sided shapes. Throughout continuous provision we will be continue to explore mathematical language relating to time.

Reception Autumn 2: ‘Festivals of Fire and Light’

Communication & Language: Opportunities for children to talk with adults and friends, one to one and in small groups. Learning new vocabulary relating to other cultures and festivals. Developing our understanding of phonics and using the sounds we know to read words.

Understanding the world: We will be looking at festivals this half term, focusing on Diwali, Bonfire night, Remembrance Day and Christmas.

Expressive Arts: Small world and role play areas are available at all times. Through creative exploration we are going to be experimenting with different materials to create representations. We will be looking at the art work by Jackson Pollock RE: Diwali and Christmas
