Monkton CEP School – “In God’s Eyes, Everyone is Special” Term 2 Newsletter 1 8 December 2021
Dear Parents, Carers and Governors, As we move into the last two weeks of Term 2, here are few updates, reminders and requests for you. We thank you all for remaining vigilant and respecting the measures that we have put into place to keep our children, staff and community safe. Please continue to be very proactive with regards to wearing your masks, social distancing on the playground, and also on the road outside of the school. Please continue to keep your children at home if they are at all ill. This along with the measures that we have in place within school will enable us to have the best possible chance of avoiding a Class closure before the end of Term 2. Thank you. Just a reminder, Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 10 December. Please ensure that your children come in their school uniform and wear a Christmas jumper if they wish. Donations accepted in cash on the day. There will be a bucket by the gate in the morning.
Rocksteady Christmas Concert – Recorded This year’s Rocksteady Christmas Concert will take place on Monday 13 December in the afternoon. The concert is being recorded by Rocksteady as we are not able to allow parents to attend. More details for parents of children taking part will come from Rocksteady.
If your child has any intolerances, please email Mrs Webb to confirm this and make the appropriate arrangements. If you are in receipt of means tested Free School Meals, please email Mrs Webb ASAP, if you will require a school packed savoury lunch for your child/ren on this day. If you do not contact Mrs Webb we will assume you are providing your child with a packed lunch on this day.
Christmas Performances It is really disappointing that due to Covid restrictions we cannot hold a live performance for Christmas and invite you into school to share this. A recording will be available in due course which will be shown to all the children in school and be sent to parents.
Christmas Panto and Games We will be having a live performance from Shooting Stars Entertainment this year! With careful Covid19 screening of the performers and hall ventilation the children will have a performance in the morning of “Jack and the Beanstalk” Children will also take part in traditional Christmas games and class Christmas parties within their own Class.
Christingle – Tuesday 14 December A whole school Christingle Concert will take place at St Mary Magdalene Church. This will be a ‘children only’ event and will be led by Revered Richard Braddy. If your child has long hair, please ensure it is tied back on this day. Do ensure that you send your children with warm coats/hats and gloves.
Xmas Lunch This year, the school traditional Christmas lunch will take place on Wednesday 15 December and will be served in the Classrooms. Please remember to let Mrs Webb know whether your child will be having a school lunch or bringing a packed lunch from home.
Term Finishes on Friday 17 December 2021 at the usual time of 3:10pm and finally… I feel (and know) that the last 2 terms have been a huge success, despite living in such challenging times, due to the Monkton family being stronger than ever. The team and I would like to wish everyone a very happy, safe and merry Christmas and New Year and we will see you all in January! Ho Ho Ho!!!
Term 3 Starts at 8:40am on 4 January 2022. Breakfast will also resume on this day. Class Christmas Parties - Friday 17 December This is a non-school uniform day. Warm sensible party clothes to be worn on this day! This year our party will once again be a little different. We ask that you provide your child/ren with a packed savoury party lunch and drink. All the sweet treats and will come from school – individually wrapped (Covid Safe). Including cakes, biscuits and sweet treats.
Kind Regards,
Mr C Marston Head of School
