Autumn 1

Write Stuff introduced after first 2/3 weeks.

Fine motor activities

Writing/recognising at least initial recognisable sounds.

Write Stuff focus on improving vocabulary through the use of Granny words. All lessons to have phonically decodable word within Granny words. Children to use full sentences, practise with improved vocabulary, have understanding of meaning of words. Children to have access to new vocabulary within writing area and CP Use of Write Stuff icons throughout CP.

Spark your speech sheets in Make your Mark books to evidence children’s oracy.

Dough Disco Gross motor activities letter formation with adult supervision only at beginning of year. writing/initial sound work/ CVC words to be made with letter cards/magnetic letters, etc rather than handwriting.

Beginning to develop Tri pod pen grip and pressure. Able to write own name with support once all letter sounds have been taught.

Blank paper available for children to mark make. Support guides in CP to be used with adults only. Letter formation and sound cards available in all areas.

Autumn 2 (daily)

Sentence stacking – children able to retell or order the story with use of pictures. Focus task to have an outcome with a writing/mark making focus. Children able to hold a sentence.

Children to practice letters in letter formation groups, e.g. all ‘c’ formation letters together.

Continuation of Write Stuff. Lessons to build up to 4 plot points. Memorable moments and writing to be on 2 consecutive days.

Make your markattempts at letters and words.

Children, where appropriate, to write when all sounds are secure.

Adults to supervise, as much as possible, all writing.

Children are beginning to predict using prior knowledge or experience.

Handwriting lessons to take place within CP.
