Action Environment flooded with correct handwriting font for all labels and models. Dough Disco and Squiggle fine motor activities Guided activities with handwriting and name writing.

Children recognise some grapheme, phoneme correspondence

In Reception children will be taught the sounds and the corresponding letter shapes using the Read Write Inc letter patter but only for air writing.

Children can form the letter families in order.

Sept – children had a large version to follow on whiteboard and smaller printed version to follow with finger. air writing: scarfs, paint brushes, sand, glitter etc. Trip grip and formation modelled by adults and children supported in continuous provision As a letter is introduced in phonics add this to a poster to display the letter families e.g. All letters in groups on board (see Read Write Inc poster for order of letters and their sounds) Discreet focused handwriting sessions when children are ready – starting on plain paper
