OPPORTUNITIES The theme for Black History Month UK 2025 is “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” a powerful tribute to the resilience, strength, and unwavering commitment to progress that defines the Black community across the globe. This year, the theme highlights the profound contributions made by Black people be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped history, while also looking towards a future of continued empowerment, unity, and growth. “Norton Rose Fulbright strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can bring their whole self to work and realise their career potential.” Watch this video from a Norton Rose Trainee Lawyer about her experience in banking. Paul Boateng, the UK’s first Black Cabinet Minister, is a trailblazer who transformed British politics and diplomacy. From his early fight for justice as a civil rights lawyer to his historic achievements in Parliament and as High Commissioner to South Africa, Boateng’s life is a testament to resilience, representation, and the power of change. JOB OF THE WEEK Film Director Directors are integral to the success of any film project, playing a central role in shaping the creative vision and narrative and bringing together all artistic elements to form a cohesive final product. During production, a typical day is between 10 and 12 hours. However, as a director you will usually spend extra time in meetings discussing aspects of the production.
LABOUR MARKET INFORMATION FACT “According to a 2019 report by the UK’s Department for Education, only about 4% of teachers in state-funded schools identified as Black, Asian, or from other minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds. The figure for Black male teachers represents a much smaller fraction of this already small percentage.” Source
