Kirkburton Middle School Parents’ Bulletin - 3 February 2023 A word from the Head Welcome to our latest parent bulletin, I hope you and your family are well. It’s hard to believe today marks the midpoint of the academic year. Time certainly is flying by. It won’t be long until we are getting ready to say goodbye to our year 8 class of 2023 and preparing to welcome our next cohort of year 6 pupils. Lots to come before that happens however. As part of our drive to raise standards at key stage 2, we have been undertaking a series of peer reviews with our feeder first schools. On Tuesday we welcomed all the first school headteachers to KMS to learn more about the work of our maths department. All colleagues who visited were very complimentary of the work of the school and I know the pupils were delighted to see them. A special thank you to the maths department who hosted the six headteachers. We have recently had a drive on lesson punctuality as we felt some pupils were taking too long to get to lessons. We’re pleased to announce that this has had the desired effect and all pupils are now arriving promptly to lessons and ready to learn. Please see the attendance section of Edulink for details on your child’s punctuality record. Also in Edulink, we will be relaunching the behaviour section after half-term. We have taken the decision to reset all behaviour points to zero so pupils have a fresh start for the second half of the year. Please contact your child’s form tutor if you have any questions around this. Finally, can I thank all parents for their ongoing support for the work of the school. We ask for your continued trust that, as the educational professionals, we usually know what is right for your child in school. That said, we always welcome input from parents so please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns. I hope you have a lovely weekend when it arrives. Mr Taylor
