We recognise that children learn in different ways. Children’s learning styles often evolve as children discover new ways to problem solve through play based activities. We ensure that the following characteristics of effective learning are apparent in our enabling environment by carefully planning learning opportunities across a play based learning environment. These continue to be reflected upon across the school year. Our three areas of focus are: Playing and Exploring- Having a go

Preparing for Science Three to four year olds ● Pay attention to more than one thing at a time, which can be difficult. ● Use a wider range of vocabulary. ● Understand a question or instruction that has two parts ● Understand ‘why’ questions ● Use longer sentences of four to six words. ● Be able to express a point of view and to debate when they disagree with an adult or a friend, using words as well as actions. ● Use talk to organise themselves and their play

Active Learning- Keep on trying

Creating and thinking critically- Having own ideas
