Behaviour
Zones of Regulation Lesson 1: we learnt about regulation.
Zones of Regulation Lesson 2: we were introduced to the Zones.
Zones of Regulation Lesson 3: we were taught that all Zones are Okay
This week was a Review week, where children recapped on their learning thus far.
Important:
Please reinforce that all emotions and Zones are Okay, but all behaviours are not.
For example, feeling angry is fine, but hurting your friend is definitely not!
Poor behaviours ultimately lead to a consequence e.g. missing a break or lunchtime as well as a restorative action.
School Lottery: message from FOES
Reminder: we have a school lottery which supports funding for FOES. The school lottery is held weekly with a guaranteed winner from our school each week. The more people who play, the bigger the prize pot and the more money the school makes. Over the last year the lottery has raised just under £1,000 for our school which can make a big difference to the resources we can buy and the projects we can support- all of which directly benefit your children. Again, the more people who play the more the school raises! So please feel free to get family and friends involved as well. To find out more and sign up please go to: https://www.yourschoollottery.co.uk/lottery/school/earith-primary-school

Bryon Highlights:
In Byron Class this week, we have been exploring how the numbers 2 and 3 are composed, as well as using our subitising skills to recognise small quantities. We found groups of three items to give to the Three Bears and also collected groups of three objects during a walk around the school grounds. We explored the theme of harvest time and enjoyed the story of The Little Red Hen, joining in with the repeated phrases and sequencing images to show the main events
Yarlett Highlights:
Maths was a highlight for Yarlett Class this week with a focus on place value for both year groups. Year 2s enjoyed playing race to 100 with the base ten equipment. It was lovely to see them adapting the game mathematically, without prompting, as they played. For example, subtracting instead of adding or trying to roll ten exactly with the dice. Year 1s have been making tens from cubes, counters and blocks as well as counting in across tens boundaries chorally using hundred squares and Gattegno charts. Similarly, their discussion about two-digit numbers showed their growing understanding.
Blabey Highlights:
In Blabey Class this week, we have loved learning about how our brain interacts with our bodies when we are about to eat. We were able to see how just looking at a piece of chocolate can make us lick our lips and start our stomachs rumbling! We have also enjoyed creating polystyrene printing pads, ready to create printed artwork in the style of Hokusai's Great Wave.
Morpurgo Highlights:
The highlight of the week came within a lively and engaging French lesson. The children showed excellent progress in their speaking and listening skills. Madam Ray was particularly impressed by their accurate pronunciation and growing confidence when speaking aloud. The children were able to recall key vocabulary and facts in French, using full sentences and could respond to questions with increasing fluency. It was fantastic to see how far they’ve come. Fantastique!
