English:
In English, this half term, we will read a range of quality texts by Julia Donaldson. We will be focussing on composing and saying the sentence we want to write and then applying our phonic knowledge to spell the words. We will also be encouraged to include finger spaces and important punctuation.

Maths:
In Maths this half term, we will be focussing on place value and deepening our understanding of numbers. We will consolidate, and build on concepts introduced in Reception, including counting, ordering numbers, comparing numbers, and numbers as words. We will also be focussing on number formation, ensuring all digits are correctly formed and facing the right direction.

Science:
In our Science unit this half term we are learning all about the human body. We will begin by naming different body parts and their functions before exploring our five senses and how we use them.
We will also begin to discuss the seasons and observe the changes from Summer to Autumn.
Art & Design and Design Technology:
In DT this half term, our focus is Healthy Foods. We will identify a range of fruit and vegetables, discuss balance diets and then use our knowledge to make a healthy smoothie.
PE:
In PE, we will be developing our Fundamental Movement Skills such as running, jumping, hopping and skipping on the field with our class teacher. During our sessions with our WLSP coach we will be exploring Gymnastics, learning about different balances and ways to connect them.
Geography:
This half term we will focus on local Geography, looking at maps of both our school buildings and playground. We will identify things we like about our school site and things that could be improved, before designing our own school field.
History: This area of the curriculum is taught in Autumn 2, Spring 2 and Summer 2.

Music:
PSHE
In our school, we follow the 1 decision scheme to teach our PSHE. Through PSHE, we see the children develop and grow – building positive relationships with their peers. This half term we will focus on how humans change over time and also discuss handling our worries around change.
In Music this half term, we will be using tuned and untuned percussion to play 'The Carnival of the Animals'. In October, we will be visiting church for our Harvest festival assembly where we sing lots of songs.
Computing:
This half term, we will discuss the importance of staying safe online and begin to explore our school computer suite for the first time!
RE: This half term our key question is: 1.8 How should we care for others in the world and why does it matter?We will think about what is special about our world as well as how we can care for it. We will also discuss how we are all unique individuals who must care for each other.
