English: In English, this half term, our quality text will be ‘The Enchanted Wood’ by Enid Blyton. We will explore a range of writing genres such as diary entries and story writing. In addition to this we will also be writing a recount of our field work in Botanic Gardens. Science: In Science this half term, we will l learning all about plants. This will include keeping a growth chart of how plants grow from bulbs and seeds. Our learning will focus on the life processes of plants and during our visit to Botanic Gardens we will look at different types of plants and trees.
Maths: In Maths this half term we will begin our learning about fractions, using our prior knowledge of division to help us find halves, thirds and quarters of length, shapes, set of objects and numbers. We will then move on to learning about time, comparing and sequencing intervals of time, telling and writing the time to five minutes, including quarter past/to the hour and draw the hands on a clock face to show these times.
Year 2 – Spring 2: ‘Fairies, Forests and Fieldwork’ Art & Design and Design Technology: In Art this half term, our/ topic is called ‘Clay Houses’ . We will begin with shaping a pinch pot and adding shapes as decoration and complete our learning by designing and making a 3D clay tile with a house design.
PE:
In PE, we will be focussing on dance or functional movement skills. We will be developing our skills of hopping, skipping and sidestepping, and body control through a range of activities. During dance sessions we will develop our skills independently before creating group dances.
