Bookings for our Butterflies Holiday Club for the upcoming half-term and Easter holidays are now open on Arbor. Each child received a flyer about it in their book bags this week, please do sign up if you are interested. We are delighted to be able to offer a fun, engaging programme to keep the children entertained during the holidays. Please note that we can only open the Holiday Club if minimum numbers are met, so early bookings are greatly appreciated.
Next week, we are very much looking forward to National Storytelling Week. We will be celebrating our love of stories with a special visit from author and illustrator Sean Perkins, who will be delivering storytelling sessions across the school. This promises to be an inspiring experience for our children and a wonderful way to spark their creativity and imagination.
Our Year 1 pupils also enjoyed a fantastic trip to ‘Imagine That!’ this week, the children’s, behaviour was exemplary throughout the visit. They represented our school beautifully and had lots of fun (see some pictures below).

A big well done to all the children who took part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch, 23 – 25 January 2026. rd th We really enjoyed seeing how well you got on!

Big School Birdwatch
We would like to invite you and your child to take part in the Big Schools Bird Watch on Thursday 12th February 2026.
We will meet outside the front of the Botanic Garden’s aviary at 3.40pm. The activity will last for approximately one hour. During this time, you and your child will be provided with a recording sheet and will observe and tally the number of each bird species visiting our local park. The results will then be submitted to the RSPB.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people take part, helping to build a valuable picture of how garden birds are doing across the UK. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to engage with nature and contribute to an important national project.
As you will be attending with your child, you will be responsible for them throughout the activity. Please ensure that you bring any medication your child may need. A first aid kit will be available during the event. Toilets are also available in the park (20p).
We hope you are able to join us and support your child in this exciting learning experience.
If you wish to take part, please can you complete the interest Google form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeoCHeU1yigxA7_Tn_XctR7 XL94ka0rM8wJ e8wu-h9rZV6Jg/viewform?usp=publish-editor
In our school library, we’re creating story baskets, each one with a favourite book and the matching toy, so children can bring stories to life through play.
Paddington, the Gruffalo, the Tiger Who Came to Tea, and many other story friends are all welcome!
If you have any story book toys that are gently used and ready for a new chapter, we’d love to give them a happy home in our library, where they’ll be read with, played with, and loved again. Please drop any toy donations to our school office.
Love My CommunityMufti Day
As part of the Southport Learning Partnership, we are proud to be taking part in our annual Love My Community day in 2026. This will take place on the last day before the February half term (Friday 13th February).
Children are invited to come to school in non-uniform (mufti) and bring a voluntary £1 donation. All money raised will go to a local charity chosen collectively by our Southport school’s community. Thank you to everyone who nominated charities this year.
The chosen charities for Love My Community 2026 are charities that are very dear to our hearts:
Alice’s WonderDance
Elsie’s Story
Bebe’s Hive
We look forward to coming together to support these wonderful local causes and celebrate the importance of giving back to our community.
