Churchtown Chatter

A message from the Headteacher:

It was lovely to welcome so many parents and carers to our recent KS2 SATs information meeting. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend; we hope you found the session helpful and reassuring as we approach this important time for the children. For those who were unable to join us, please do see the information below in the newsletter, including details about the SATs revision book bundle that is available.

Looking ahead, we are pleased to share that our Nursery open day is coming up soon. This is a great opportunity for families to see our Nursery in action and find out more about what we offer. If you know someone who may be interested, please encourage them to book on to secure a place.

We are also delighted that our baby and toddler group will be reopening on Monday 26th. This group has always been an important part of our wider school community, and we look forward to welcoming families back.

Please also keep an eye out around school for posters advertising some exciting PTA events coming up this Spring. Thank you for your continued support.

Year 6 KS2 SATs: parent/guardian meeting

Thank you to those who were able to attend the KS2 SATs meeting on Tuesday 20 . th

We understand that, due to a range of commitments, some families may not have been able to attend.

As such, the PowerPoint and parent/guardian information booklet have been shared via Arbor & also uploaded to the Year 6 page on our school’s website (link below).

https://www.churchtown.org.uk/year-groups/year-6

A number of families have enquired about the best resources available to support children at home in preparation for the assessments. As a reminder, our school has the opportunity to order a discounted book bundle that may be of great benefit to our Year 6 students.

The four-book bundle includes the CGP KS2 SATs English Revision Guide and Question Book, as well as the CGP KS2 SATs Maths Revision Guide and Question Book. These resources are well-regarded and provide comprehensive support in preparation for the end of KS2 assessments.

The total cost for the book bundle is £11.80 which is a significant saving compared to the recommended retail price of £27. Should you wish to take advantage of this offer, please ensure that payment is made via Arbor by Friday 30th January.

If there are any questions or further support is needed, please do not hesitate to contact the school office (office@churchtown.org.uk or tel 01704 508 500).

Traffic & Pick-Up SafetyImportant Reminder

To help keep all of our pupils, families, and neighbours safe during drop-off and pick-up times, we kindly ask everyone to keep the following in mind:

Walk where possible, even parking a little further away and walking helps reduce congestion around the school.

Drivers must slow down on Sunny Road and St Cuthbert’s Road. These are shared spaces with many children present.

Be constantly alert for children and families crossing the road. Children may step out unexpectedly.

Stopping or parking in unsafe or restricted areas is not acceptable, including blocking driveways or stopping where visibility is limited. Follow all road rules and signage at all times.

Failure to take care places children and families at risk. We ask all members of our school community to take responsibility and act with caution and respect.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping make our school community a safer place for everyone.
