Today we held a whole-school Remembrance Assembly on the school yard, led by Major Nick McEntee, a serving officer in the Army who also plays a voluntary role with the British Legion in Southport. During the working week, Major McEntee is stationed in Aldershot, Hampshire, but kindly made himself available to deliver the Act of Remembrance at our school today. He was accompanied by Iain, a veteran and former member of the RAF.

We observed a two-minute silence, during which the children showed great respect and understanding of the importance of remembrance. Major McEntee spoke to the children about the upcoming Remembrance services taking place in Southport this Sunday, where 21 of our pupils will be taking part in the service and laying a wreath at the memorial. He also presented us with the wreath that we will be taking to the memorial on Sunday.

Our Chief Champions contributed beautifully to the assembly, reading poems and reciting the Kohima Epitaph at the end of the silence. The whole school demonstrated immense respect and compassion throughout, and their behaviour must be highly commended.

A heartfelt thank you to Major McEntee for his time, dedication, and support in leading today’s event, and to all staff and children who will be representing our school at Sunday’s Remembrance service in Southport. Have a lovely weekend, Mrs Payne!

Odd Socks Day – Monday 10th November 2025

Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week and is a fun way for children to celebrate what makes each of us unique! Supported by CBeebies presenter Andy Day and his band Andy and the Odd Socks, this special day encourages everyone to express themselves and show that being different is something to be proud of.

To take part, simply wear odd socks to school on Monday 10th November the brighter and more colourful, the better! It’s an easy and cheerful way to raise awareness of the importance of kindness and inclusion.

Let’s fill our classrooms with colour and positivity as we kick off Anti-Bullying Week together!

On Friday 14th November, our school will be supporting BBC Children in Need by taking part in a range of exciting activities to raise money and awareness for this important cause. Children are invited to bring in £1 and wear one item of spotty clothing with their school uniform, or choose to wear spotty/ Children in Need–themed accessories (please note, no face paint or hair dye). Throughout the day, there will be plenty of fun, including music and challenge stations during buddy playtime. This year’s theme is “Challenge Yourself to 25,” and our School Council has set each class the task of completing 25 acts of kindness - one a day, or focusing on a single act for the week. We’re encouraging everyone to get involved and help spread kindness across our school community!
