Newsletter – 9th March 2022 Our News We are all enjoying watching the progress of the new physical development area being constructed and can’t wait to be able to use it when it is ready! The Ducklings have been into their very first whole school assembly in school for star of the week. It has been commented on about how well they sit and listen. Well done, Ducklings! Our African drumming and dance workshops were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The children had great fun and learned so much from their experiences. Look at all of the photographs and videos from this special day on the school website: https://www.carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk/blog/category/little-chicks and https://www.carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk/blog/category/ducklings World Book Day was also another fun day to encourage pupils to read for pleasure. Thank you for all of the lovely costumes. The children loved sharing their favourite books and listening to the different adults read their favourite stories.
STARS OF THE WEEK Harrison and Cole from Yellow Ducklings Beatrix and Rodney from Brown Ducklings Our Learning The children have loved reading the different African themed stories Handa’s Surprise, Handa’s Hen and Fatou Fetch the water. They now know the story of Handa’s Surprise so well that they are able to retell it and act it out using the small world characters and puppets, using the familiar story language. The different stories have helped them to understand what life might be like in Africa, compared with their lives here in the UK. They enjoyed tasting the different and unusual tropical fruits. In creative learning, the children have explored the technique of weaving on card frames, around paper bowls, on wire racks and on the fences outside.
