Summer Term What is Power?
Begin to explore non-fiction books and how they are different from fiction books. Identify syllables in a word, especially in the new vocabulary related to life cycles and change. Purposeful mark-making to record changes we observe
Read stories about different people and what they do/achieved. Begin to identify initial sounds and letters as having the power to represent something. Write some letters and their name to claim ownership
Linking numbers and amounts by counting plants and animals. Comparing changes in development and growth in relation to size, length, weight and capacity.
Solve real world problems to have power over their environment
Plant seeds and care for growing plants, learn about life cycles and watch an animal grow
Discuss what makes them powerful and special, making sense of their own lifestory and family history Create and improvise our own songs and instruments.
