Headteacher Update Friday 9th December 2022 Dear Parents/Carers, Christmas at Bishop Martin! It’s been a magical week at Bishop Martin with so much going on! On Tuesday our Year 5/6 Choir went and performed carols and songs at the Concourse from their upcoming performance next week in church. Thank you SO much to all those parents who came and supported. There are pictures up on the school Twitter feed for parents to see and enjoy! Next year we hope to send THREE choirs (a Year 5/6, a Year 3/4 and a Year 1/2 choir) as this was such a success! And then on Wednesday and Thursday we were treated to our EYFS Nativity. The Nursery and Reception children did SO well and again, thank you to all those parents who came and supported. But this is just the beginning! Next week we have much more (from the infant and junior Christmas performances in the church for parents, to Christmas Movie night next Wednesday and the drawing of the Christmas Raffle at the end of next week!) as we try to make Christmas a truly memorable one for the pupils after what has been a very challenging few years. All the Christmas events and dates are on the school website and app under ‘Latest News’. Medical Advice Update for Parents from the Local Authority I wrote to parents earlier this week regarding the most up to date information the school had regarding handling the increase in cases of Strep A (across the country and West Lancashire). This information has now been updated by the Local Authority and provided to schools to give to parents and I include it below for your attention:  Symptoms are a sore throat, fever and bumpy rash (rough to the touch a little like sandpaper)  Parents who think their child may have these symptoms should NOT self-diagnose. They should contact either 111 or preferably see their GP to get antibiotics and confirm that's what it actually is. If the child is well enough they can return to school 24 hours after starting antibiotics  If the child does take antibiotics they should remain off school until they feel better  I have attached a letter with my update that has been sent out, via schools, to all parents across the country from the UKHSA that has more information for you. Many thanks for your ongoing support
