Dear Parents/Carers, It has been such a busy half term and we are so proud of how the hard the children have worked, especially our Owls and Lions Classes who have completed their Statutory Assessments. We have much to look forward to next half term including sports days, school trips and prize giving . We are also taking part in the annual athletics competition at Robin Park – we hope to have our twitter feed reinstated to bring you live updates! Read Write Inc — Following our parent survey on reading during the Autumn Term, we are delighted that books have been ordered to support with reading at home. This has been a significant investment and we hope the children enjoy sharing the stories at home with you. The books do not replace those available on Oxford Owl but are different stories using the same sounds your child is currently learning. We hope to take delivery of these in early June so will keep you updated. Phonics Screening— Children in Year One will be taking part in the Phonics Screening Check in June. A meeting has been arranged for Wednesday 7 th June at 2.30pm and a separate letter will be sent about this. Multiplication Table Check— Children in Koalas will be taking part in the Multiplication Table Check in June. It would be great if they could continue practicing using Times Tables Rock Star and the multiplication tables check which can be found at: https://www.timestables.co.uk/multiplicationtables-check/ Jewellery — At Bishop Martin, only small plain stud earrings are allowed to be worn in school. It is not appropriate for any other kinds of jewellery to be worn and pupils will be instructed to remove the items which will be handed to parents at the end of the day. Use of mobile phones — It is lovely to welcome parents into school, sharing in your child’s learning and achievements. For events such as Praise Assembly and Sports Days, we will always provide opportunities for you to take photographs. We respectfully ask that mobile phones are not used to record the children outside these set times. Online Safety— We have been made aware that ‘omegle’ is being discussed amongst our KS2 children as it is often promoted on TikTok. There is a wealth of information available on www.childnet.com with advice about how to safeguard your child. We have asked that the next monthly online safety newsletter contains additional information to support you too. Gate Consultation— We have been overwhelmed with the number of responses received during our gate consultation. SLT will taken time to read through these and discuss the options. Further update after half term. As always, we thank you for your continued support. We wish you a relaxing and enjoyable half term. Mrs Warrington
