Curriculum At Birdsedge we Through our practical and enjoyable curriculum we aim to inspire and excite our children and foster a thirst for knowledge. In addition, the teaching of science will promote and develop transferable skills such as observation, communication and teamwork and allow mathematical skills to be applied.

Science Vision Statement At Birdsedge First School our vision is to ignite pupils' curiosity and encourage them to confidently explore and discover the world around them, so that they develop a deeper understanding of the world we live in.

Developing Skills As they progress through school, children learn the key knowledge and understanding which underpin these ideas, in addition to developing their working scientifically skills. Children learn the scientific method of how to ask and answer questions, make predictions, carry out investigations, gather data, and use evidence to make conclusions.

Vocabulary The vocabulary the staff will use taken from the National Curriculum and other guidance. Teachers will however strive to extend this by using new an challenging Tier 3 vocabulary that will broaden the children’s language acquisition when speaking and listening. Key vocabulary should be displayed with the children’s Science work.
