On Saturday 21st May, I came to the end of my post-grad diploma in Deaf Education with the University of Manchester. It was a 2-year course and I took the part time, distance learning
route. This meant that my studies involved lectures and seminars via zoom and working through modules and assignments online, although I was lucky enough to visit the Manchester campus a couple of times, which was really interesting. My studies covered topics such as the development of languages, how deaf students access a curriculum and audiology. I also had the pleasure of completing a teaching
placement at Royal Cross primary school for deaf children in Ashton, which was a fantastic experience. The diploma now means that I am a fully qualified teacher of the deaf, known as a QToD within the field of Deaf Education. I love the wonderful students and staff that I work with and the hard work has definitely paid off.
