OSWALD’S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL LOVE JESUS LOVE LEARNING LOVE EACH OTHER “We are a learning community promoting the Gospel values of mutual trust, care and respect” NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 15th JUNE 2018 WEDNESDAY WORD - GOD’S KINGDOM CONGRATULATIONS - To our second group of Y4 children who are making their First Communion at St Oswald’s tomorrow morning. Children can come to Canons’ Hall from 9.15am, accompanied by 1 adult, for their photograph. Mass starts at 10.00am. Family Communion is on Sunday at 10.30am. The children need to wear their First Communion clothes. We will remember them in our prayers. We hope they have a lovely weekend. Thank you to the Parish Preparation Team and School Staff. CLASS 4 ASSEMBLY - was held this morning and was all about Rules. Well done to all the children and thank you to all the visitors who attended. We appreciate the time you spend helping your child learn their words. Pictures are on the website and twitter. CLASS 3 ASSEMBLY - is on Friday 22nd June at 9.10am in the school hall. All family and friends are welcome. KS2 SPORTS DAY - is on Tuesday 19th June at 1.30pm on the large field, weather permitting. A letter has been sent home with further details. CRICKET - We were represented at Golborne Cricket Competition by Jacob Martin, Cody Lyons- Ashworth, Poppy O’Donoghue, Evie Ramtulla, Corey Winstanley, Scott Veivers, George Green, Charlotte Ashcroft and Owen Bradley. Well done to all. Y6 PUPILS - were visited by Wigan Athletic this week who came to talk to them about CPR under the Heartstart programme. They have also had a visit from Judo Education who led a session based around personal safety. KS2 SCHOOL GAMES - was held this week at Leigh Sports Village. St Oswald’s was represented at Archery by Eve Brearton, Annabelle Rowson, Matthew Simm and Oliver Mellors who won the Respect award, at Street dance by Emma Winnard, Libby Rutherford, Poppy O’Donoghue, Ella Graham, Emmy Clarke, Maisy Hughes and Emily Gallagher who won silver and at Ultimate Frisbee by Louis Williams, Leah Mullins, Niall Spruce, Alex Ball, Chloe Banks, Alexis Aaron, Amelia Martin, Dylan Ratcliffe and Ben Franklin. Well done to all. YEAR 3 - visited Knowsley Safari Park this week to learn about animals and their habitats. An enjoyable and educational day was had by all. SUMMER FAIR INFORMATION - Our family fun competitions will be:  Ozzy’s Great Cake Off 2018 - £2 to enter a cake of any shape, size or flavour at the cake tent before 3.30pm - a sample of each cake will be entered for judging and the rest sold on the stall. Winner announced at 4.00pm. 2 categories Adult and Under 16. Prize = Personalised Apron  Welly Wang - £2 for three throws - furthest throw across the day wins a prize. 4 categories Male / Female / Girl / Boy.  Penalty Shoot Out - 5 Shots per person. 3 goals wins a medal - FREE.  Bucket Raffle - £1 per strip - winner gets half of the amount in the bucket.  Lego competition- prize- Lego kit. Further information will follow. If you have a gazebo you are willing to loan us for the day please inform the school office.
