Friday 27th April 2018 Our News! We have had another busy fortnight! The children really enjoyed having a few visitors in school and their behaviour was amazing! They listened beautifully to Reverend Boyd who came to talk to them all about Christenings and they loved sharing their special photographs and candles with her. Some of the children have used the baby dolls and the dressing up clothes to act out their own Christenings this week! A big thank you to Zachary’s mum and big brother for bring in the pet tortoises to show us. It was very interesting for us all to find out how to care for a more unusual pet. The Yellow Ducklings were all amazingly confident in their first class assembly at ‘big’ school. They learnt the Hattie Peck story and their lines beautifully. They spoke with clear and loud voices. All the staff commented on what a lovely assembly it was and a great way to end our very busy day with another very special visitor! On Thursday the Ducklings went to visit the local church in Carleton. Again the Ducklings all made us feel so proud because their behaviour was impeccable! Reverend Carolyn was very impressed with the very interesting questions that they thought of to ask her. They were very quiet and respectful in church and handled all of the special objects with great care! Thank you to all of the parent and carer volunteers that helped to with this visit. This morning we had a meeting for parents/carers about the Foundation Stage profile. For those of you who weren’t able to make it, all of the information is on the Ducklings class page on the school website. The children have enjoyed sharing their knowledge of pets. They have been able to describe how to care for each of the different pets and some of them made some lovely ‘Guess my pet?’ riddle books. Outside the children have enjoyed watching the progress of our growing and changing frogspawn and tadpoles. They have been ordering and writing about the life cycle of a frog and sketching the changes. They have learnt lots of new vocabulary such as metamorphosis, gills, vocal sac, amphibian and col-blooded. Ask them what some of these mean!
