The Bushey Academy Vision
The Bushey Academy is a learning focused community where happiness isderived from achievement and positive self-esteem. It is a place where individuals develop the confidence in themselves and the understanding of others around them to be active contributors to society. The innovative and individually targeted curriculum allows all students to succeed in their own area of strength; the academy houses gives everyone the chance to shine outside the classroom and, in all areas, individual enterprise and endeavour are both expected and rewarded, so ensuring that students and staff at the academy are proud to belong.
The Bushey Academy Values and Ethos
The academy has long had a motto 'Proud to Belong' and this reflects its determination to ensure that all its members are in a community which promotes the basic values of honesty, integrity, kindness and acceptance of others,and of other ways of living. It believes that individuals should work hard and treat others well. The academy welcomes the following statement from Lord Nash in November 2014,which explains all schools must promote "British values".
"Akey part of our plan for education is to ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background. We want every school topromote the basic British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance for those of diff erentfaiths and beliefs. This ensures young people understand the importance of respect and leave school full y prepared for life in modern Britain. " These are values which the academy shares and actively promotes through its curricular and extra-curricular activities,especially its Proud to Belong Week.
Introduction
This SEN Report outlines the provision in place at the Bushey Academy. It forms part ofthe Hertfordshire Local Offer for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN). At the Bushey Academy we believe in finding the right path so that everyone achieves their full potential.
