1. The ratio of white T-shirts to grey T-shirts in a store is 8 : 5. If there are 60 grey T-shirts, how many white T-shirts are there?
5 units → 60
1 unit → 60 ÷ 5 = 12

2. Stella and Zoe earn a weekly salary in the ratio 8 : 3. Stella earns $63 every week. How much more does Zoe earn than Stella every week?
3 units → $63
1 unit → $63 ÷ 3 = $21
5 units → 5 × $21 = $105 Zoe earns $105 more than Stella every week.
3. The capacities of two containers, A and B, are in the ratio 7 : 2. If the capacity of Container A is 15 litres greater than the capacity of Container B, what is the total capacity of the two containers?
5 units → 15 L
1 unit → 15 ÷ 5 = 3 L
9 units → 9 × 3 = 27 L
The total capacity of the two containers is 27 litres.
4. The ratio of the number of tarts to the total number of tarts and cupcakes Anahera baked for a whānau gathering is 3 : 7. If she baked a total of 154 tarts and cupcakes, how many cupcakes did she bake?
7 units → 154
1 unit → 154 ÷ 7 = 22
4 units → 4 × 22 = 88
Anahera baked 88 cupcakes.
5. The ratio of the number of adult tickets to the total number of adult and child tickets sold at an amusement park is 4 : 11. If 80 adult tickets were sold, how many child tickets were sold?

1 unit → 80 ÷ 4 = 20
7 units → 7 × 20 = 140
140 child tickets were sold.
6. The ratio of the total monthly salary of Mr and Mrs Lawson to the salary of Mrs Lawson is 11 : 6. If Mrs Lawson’s monthly salary is $3,150, what is the total monthly salary of Mr and Mrs Lawson?
