Do you know which colour is invisible to bees? Along the bacchus & pomina Apple Trail, with its interactive stations and informative placards, you will find a wealth of interesting facts about the history of Schenna and this fruit-farming region. Besides a beehive and apple sound effects, there are also inviting farm shops where visitors can try some of the local delicacies. Starting in the town centre, the bacchus & pomina Apple Trail leads down the Wiesen-street behind the Hotel Schennerhof up to the Verdinser-street just before the Restaurant Petermann. Follow the trail to the Auelerhof, past the Loth and Krebis farmsteads to the district of St. Georgen, which overlooks the city of Meran. From here, the route leads down to the Rodelstein children’s playground and back to the starting point along St.-Georgener-street. Paid parking: in the village centre.

More than twenty interactive stations describe and illustrate the work that goes into the vineyards – offering insights and an overview of the local history while revealing some curious facts about the noble vine. Along the route are a number of unusual points of interest, including an “aromatic” station. A stopover at the local wine estates and farm shops lining the route is a must. From its starting point in the village centre, the themed bacchus & pomina route leads down the Katnauweg and Leiterweg trails past the Innerleiterhof wine estate to join with the Maiser Waalweg irrigation channel path. Follow the path running alongside the canal as it winds its way down to Meran and the Planta Castle. Continue on the Haslerweg trail passing through Tschoigassl before arriving at the Lido Schenna outdoor pool. The Mitterplattweg trail leads back to the starting point. Paid parking: in the village centre.

ca. 1 h

3 km

A special experience on this hike is the alpine rose blossom in summer. Take the Verdins cable car to Tall. From there it is a 15-minute walk to Prenn to the middle station of the Hirzer cable car, which takes you to the Klammeben mountain station. Forest trail #40 takes you to the Hirzer refuge and along the trail E5 to the Hinteregg and Mahd mountain pastures. Without a stroller (with a baby carrier or with older children) the hike can be continued as a circular tour via the Almenweg Mountain Pasture Trail. After the Mahd-Alm, take trail #2B with a moderate incline up to the Rotmoos and from there to the Tallner Alm and Stafell Alm. Trail #7 takes you to the Grube chairlift, which takes you back to the Verdins cable car mountain station (from Mahd-Alm: ca. 2 1/2 h, 5,5 km, moderately difficult hike). Please note that each chairlift can only accommodate one person, children (up to the age of 8) are permitted to sit on the lap of a person. From OBERKIRN to VIDEGG 5

ca. 1 h

2,8 km

150 m

The hamlet Videgg lies at an altitude of approx. 1,500 m in a sunny location. From there you have a wonderful view of the Ifinger massif, Schenna‘s local mountain. You‘re probably wondering what a hamlet is? Not a village yet, but nonetheless a settlement: a hamlet is defined as a congregation of at least three, and at most ten, farms. In Videgg there is a small church, three inns and a few steep farms. This easy hike starts in the district of Oberkirn, which you can reach by taking the Verdins cable car. From here you walk to the right on the small asphalt access road through woods and meadows that leads to Videgg. Bus connection: Hiking bus Schenna-Verdins cable car or route 231 Schenna-Verdins. Parking: Verdins cable car

Leisurely walk along the MITTERPLATTWEG trail 6
