Every year since 1949, the month of May has been observed as Mental Health Awareness Month. In May, organizations like Mental Health America and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) come together to educate individuals on mental health conditions and provide resources for support. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is “a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well and contribute to their community.” This year, in partnership with the Township of Schaumburg’s Mental Health Board, we will be hosting the Minds Matter: Mental Health Fair to learn about different mental health topics from local organizations.
