Visiting the NYS Museum

Children in our Residential Program recently embarked on an educational scavenger hunt while visiting the New York State Museum! They ended the day with a ride on the oldest operating carousel.

A special thank you to Mr. Elmore for leading this fun-filled excursion!

Meet the Agency’s New Executive Director!

We are excited to announce the arrival of the Agency’s new Executive Director, Kevin Doherty! Kevin brings over 30 years of experience in non-profit management, state-level program oversight and youth services.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the incredible team at St. Catherine’s Center for Children and I’m looking forward to the many things we will accomplish together in service to those in need,” said Doherty. “This organization has a long history, deeply rooted in service to our local community, and has expanded to many other regions of New York state throughout the years. I’m excited about our future as we continue to offer quality programming and services while always looking for ways to improve how we serve those in need.”

Prior to joining St. Catherine’s, he served as executive director of Safe Inc. of Schenectady which serves individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity and human-trafficking. Before Safe Inc., Kevin led clinical services at St. Anne Institute in Albany. He also spent 20 years with the State, leading teams at the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Support as well as the Division of Budget. As Assistant Director of the Bureau of Addiction Treatment Centers at OASAS, Doherty was responsible for the operational, fiscal, and programmatic oversight of 12 inpatient centers, serving 10,000 state residents, annually. As its Director of Financial Management, his team was responsible for the management of $1 billion in funding. At DOB Doherty led the teams responsible for developing budgets for many of New York’s human services agencies.

“This is exciting for our agency,” said St. Catherine’s Deputy Executive Director, Brian Perrotto. “Kevin’s wealth of knowledge and experience is a major asset to add to a very strong team at St. Catherine’s. His experience as a leader in both the human services field and in finance will help us tremendously as we build on our legacy of service.”

Executive Corner

Dear Friends,

As we approach the end of 2025, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for everything you have done this year for the children, families, and individuals served by Saint Catherine’s Center for Children. Your generosity—in cash gifts, stock donations, in-kind contributions, volunteerism, and the legacy gifts that secure our future—has made a profound difference. Because of you, we have been able to offer safety, stability, compassion, and hope to those who need it most.

We appreciate you more than words can express. Your partnership and commitment to our mission strengthen every program, every home, and every opportunity we are able to provide. Thank you for believing in our work and for standing with us throughout the year.

As we celebrate this season of giving, we wish you and your families peace, love, and a joyful holiday season, along with a very happy and healthy New Year. Thank you for all you do to uplift our community.

With Gratitude,
