R & E May School Art Show
Students at our R & E May School held their very own art show, showcasing their creations done through i2Evolve Art Studio! Students have participated in mask making, painting with music, abstract portraiture, and bendable artistry, using wire and plaster casing. Through these reflective, therapeutic art practices, students can navigate their emotions and thoughts, leading to personal growth. Thank you to I2Evolve Art Studio for leading these classes!

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming fundraising event, the 7th Annual Dr. Arthur J. Wallingford Memorial Golf Tournament, presented by The Sirco Family Foundation! The Wallingford family has been involved with St. Catherine’s for decades and we are delighted to honor him. By getting involved in fundraisers like these, you are supporting the critical work St. Catherine’s has performed for nearly 140 years. It’s because of this support that we can offer a range of human services designed to offer hope, foster growth, and improve the lives of underserved children, families, and adults. These programs include homeless and supportive housing services, therapeutic residential programming, a foster care program, the R & E May School, and community-based outreach programs that provide support throughout the Capital Region and beyond.
Without our supporters, this wonderful day of fun, friends, and fundraising would not be possible! To our returning sponsors, thank you for continuing to believe in the mission and vision of St. Catherine’s. To our new sponsors this year, welcome! We are excited to have you on board and we hope your love and passion for St. Catherine’s will grow year after year.
Sincerely,
Christopher J. Farrell

Lansingburgh Connects Hockey Tournament
Hockey is more than just a sport—it’s a community. Players and fans alike come from all walks of life, united by a passion for the game and a desire to give back. The Hockey Clash is a unique opportunity to do both: to enjoy the sport we love while supporting children and families in our community.
The event will feature a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and free admission for spectators, with a suggested donation of personal hygiene items, cleaning products, or non-perishable food. All proceeds will directly support the youth and families of the Lansingburgh School District.
Lansingburgh Connects is a collaborative effort between the Lansingburgh Central School District, St. Catherine’s Center for Children, and Rensselaer County Children’s Mental Health. The program provides vital connections to mental health, medical, and social services that support educational achievement and overall family well-being. Staff meet families at home, school, or other community locations to ensure their needs are met with compassion and care.
As a leading human services provider in the Capital Region, St. Catherine’s has been able to make a lasting impact thanks to the generosity of our community. Today, we invite you to join us by becoming a sponsor of the Lansingburgh Connects Hockey Clash. Your support will make a real difference in the lives of the children and families we serve.

“Smiles with Slip ‘N Slides” GoFundMe to Benefit R & E May School Field Day
Nicole Grandstaff has always dreamed of a career that allows her to help victimized children. Currently in the process of obtaining her Associates degree in Psychology, when Grandstaff enrolled in a Child Maltreatment, Prevention, and Investigation course, she was given the opportunity to advocate for an organization that provides support services to victims of abuse and neglect. While researching she found St. Catherine’s for Children and was immediately impressed by the range of services offered to families and children throughout the community.
“I chose St. Catherine’s after seeing everything that was being offered, between the educational services and the Residential program, and more. I wanted to give back to an organization that was making a difference locally,” Grandstaff said.
Now, Grandstaff has created a GoFundMe page, “Support Smiles with Slip ‘n Slides” to raise funds for the R & E May School’s last day of the extended school year and make the children’s field day extra special.
St. Catherine’s R & E May School is a special education program that serves elementary school students, from local school districts, who have behavioral, emotional, and educational needs that are not easily met in traditional school settings. Students at the school learn and grow with the help of speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavior support specialists, social workers, a guidance counselor and administrators.
During the field day classroom teams will work together to accomplish physical activities through utilizing team-building strategies, and water-based activities to build communication and bolster problem-solving skills. As students work together, they will be scored on their communication skills, how they show respect to others, and how they tackle decision making as a team. This day-long event will be geared towards students learning how to work together and problem solve to foster a sense of safety and community.
At the end of the field day, students will be able to use the water slide and slip and slide if they have earned enough “points” during the day through displaying responsibility, kindness, and respect to others. Additionally, many students at the R & E May School may have never experienced a slip and slide. This equipment allows students to have a positive experience, ending the extended school year on an uplifting note before heading into summer vacation.
Funds raised through GoFundMe will go directly towards the end of the year field day, with a goal of fulfilling the children’s request for a water and slip and slide activity. Funds received beyond the set goal amount will be donated to support St. Catherine’s educational services. At St. Catherine’s, care can come in the smallest of ways—and still mean everything.
At the R&E May School, a young student recently tried on a compression vest for the first time. He paused for a moment, then looked up and said, “This is nice. It feels like my mom’s hug.”
He wasn’t alone. Across the classroom, other students were curling into sensory body socks and gently zipping weighted vests. Another said, “I feel so quiet.”

Thanks to several small grants, students at St. Catherine’s can access sensory equipment that helps them feel safe and calm during their school day. These moments speak to the heart of our mission: helping children feel safe, supported, and seen.
And while we work every day to care for our community, we also want to help you care for yours.
This spring, we’re sharing a free tool from our partner, FreeWill, that helps you create your will in just 20 minutes— no matter your life-stage or wealth. If you have kids, pets, or just people you care about, a will gives you the power to make clear decisions for the future like who would care for your children and how your assets would be shared.
It’s not just a plan. It’s an act of care for those closest to you.
Please reach out with any questions, and thank you for your continued support!
All the best,
