Kids’ Corner
Maple Weekend
Children within our Residential program had a blast during Maple Weekend! Organized by the New York State Maple Producers’ Association, Maple Weekend is a chance for the public to come to local farms to learn about New York’s maple processes.
The children explored the entire process at Crosstown Maple, from identifying the perfect maple trees for tapping to watching the sap flow, and lastly, witnessing the transformation in the sugarhouse. By the end, they gained a new appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into each bottle of sweet syrup. It’s safe to say they’re now budding maple syrup experts!

Ways To Give
LEAVE A LEGACY
• SUPPORTS GENERATIONS OF CHILDREN
• CAN BE USED TO FINALIZE ESTATE PLANS
• LEGAL THROUGHOUT THE U.S.
• IT’S FREE!
Creating a will is one of the most important steps you can take when planning for the future. Yet, many people put it off, thinking they don’t need one or that it can wait. The truth is, having a will is not just for the wealthy—it’s for everyone who wants to ensure their wishes are respected and their loved ones are cared for.
A will is a legal document that outlines how you want your assets. One of the most important ways to support St. Catherine’s Center for Children is by creating your legacy in your will or Revocable Living Trust. It is a gift that costs nothing today, but ensures St. Catherine’s can support generations of happy memories for children.

Program Spotlight
Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS)
At any given moment, St. Catherine’s Children and Family Treatment and Support Services Program (CFTSS) serves about 150 clients and their families, with children ages 3 to 21 years old. We provide clinical and rehabilitation support services aimed at preventing children who need on-going health or medical care from entering institutional care.
These services can take place in a variety of locations depending on the needs of the youth and family, including, at home, school or in a community setting. Once a youth is admitted, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted to determine which medical services are most appropriate for the needs of the youth and family. Services provided include Counseling, Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment Services (CPST) and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services. See below to learn more about each service this program provides!
Counseling
For individuals, families, or other groups, counseling services are provided by a Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioner (LBHP) to teach healthy and appropriate coping skills to manage mental health symptoms, familial stress and trauma, and those affected by past foster care placements and transitions. We also work closely with schools, health home programs, and prevention services, to add a layer of counseling when needed.
Community Psychiatric and Support Treatment (CPST)
CPST is a service that assists youth and family (or caregivers) to achieve stability and functional improvement in daily living, personal recovery, family and interpersonal relationships in school, and community integration. Youth have the opportunity to practice these skills in a variety of settings through structured activities that apply psychoeducation, and therapy work to prevent crises from occurring.
Psychosocial Rehabilitation
This service consists of rehabilitation interventions and individualized, collaborative, hands-on training to build developmentally appropriate skills in a variety of areas: personal independence, autonomy with managing mental health needs, daily living skills, communication skills, and developing deeper social connections. Youth practice accessing these skills in natural environments through structured activities and interventions.
Volunteer Spotlight
Crafting Bird Feeders with Lori
A big thank you to one of our incredible volunteers, Lori, for leading a craft workshop to make bird feeders with children in one of the homes in our Residential program!
Everyone had fun creating the bird feeders and putting them on branches outside of the house. They also played Uno and decorated the windows with gel stickers to welcome Spring!
