As a business of beauty and fragrance student, you’ll learn from Meloney Moore, dean of the university’s De Sole School of Business Innovation and former executive director of marketing at Estée Lauder. In the user experience design program, you’ll collaborate with professor BC Hwang, former senior director of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile UX Innovation Lab. After SCAD interior design student Joelle Tsareva completed her second SCADpro assignment for Kohler, she earned an exclusive internship opportunity and was soon hired as an industrial designer, all before she graduated. Collectively, more than 10,000 students have enhanced extraordinary résumés and portfolios through SCADpro assignments and design challenges with companies like IBM, Microsoft, Walt Disney lmagineering, and more. CBS asked SCADpro to develop a full package of updated motion graphics for the 50th anniversary of The World’s Strongest Man. BMW asked students to apply AI and mixed reality technology to their marketing and car-buying experiences. Members of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), SCAD teams have won numerous accolades on and off the playing field: dozens of conference and individual championships in sports like cross country, cycling, and fencing, as well as recent national titles in bowling, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, and more, including the 2026 NAIA National Championship win by the SCAD women’s golf team. The SCAD equestrian team is the most decorated in the U.S., frequently capturing American National Riding Commission (ANRC), Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA), and Tournament of Champions titles — including a current streak of 13 consecutive Tournament of Champions overall titles. In the online arena, SCAD students from around the globe compete on conference title–winning esports teams in League of Legends, Overwatch, and more. With a 30-year legacy of passion and innovation behind her through her family’s beauty brand Bissú Cosméticos, Regina’s involvement in the multibillion-dollar industry was destined and a source of pride for the Mexico and Texas native. Now backed with the business strategy to match her creative vision, Regina shapes the identity and future of Bissú. Why did you choose SCAD for your degree?

I chose SCAD because it offers a unique combination of creativity, business strategy, and industry-focused education. As a creative person, I desired to ﬁnd a university and program that would challenge me and also teach me how to execute my ideas strategically. It’s rare to ﬁnd a school that successfully brings those worlds together through hands-on projects and direct exposure to industry professionals.

How did you benefit from SCAD’s industry connections?

SCAD’s industry connections gave me valuable opportunities to learn directly from professionals working in the industry I aspired to pursue. Through guest speakers, networking events, collaborative projects, and company visits, I gained meaningful insight into how the industry works. Industry professionals were also welcomed directly into our classes to conduct mock interviews and review our portfolios. The connections I built with industry leaders not only helped strengthen my work but also played a major role in developing my conﬁdence as I entered the beauty industry.

Which lessons from SCAD do you apply most often in your work?

One of the biggest lessons I apply in my work is the importance of combining creativity with strategic thinking. In the beauty and fragrance industry, storytelling, branding, and consumer experience are everything. SCAD taught me not only how to develop ideas creatively but also how to turn them into real strategies. In my daily work, creativity and strategy need to go hand in hand, and SCAD helped me understand how to bring both to life.

How did SCAD prepare you for your career?

SCAD created a professional learning environment that reﬂected the real world in beauty. The curriculum emphasized both creative innovation and business fundamentals, which have helped me bring more strategic solutions into my work. I always say there has been a clear “before and after” in my work since attending SCAD. The way I now develop ideas, think creatively, and bring concepts to life is deeply inﬂuenced by my experience here and the foundation the university gave me.

How have you remained connected to SCAD after graduation?

I stay engaged with the SCAD alumni network, follow industry events hosted by the university, and keep in touch with classmates and professors. I was fortunate to build strong relationships with my professors, and we reconnect whenever we have the chance. As a young professional, having those close connections with professors and being able to reach out for mentorship has been incredibly valuable to me. ALIHA STRANGE

SCAD M.F.A. DRAMATIC WRITING When Aliha Strange moved to Los Angeles seven years ago, versatility was her key as she took on roles in acting, sketch comedy, modeling, script supervision, podcasting, and producing, among others. Assisting her acting coach in launching a new theater space led to her participation in the University Resident Theatre Association showcase (URTAs) and to her first contact with SCAD. Originally accepted into the university’s acting graduate program, Aliha continues to explore her agility behind the scenes as she joins the SCAD dramatic writing program, becoming a true triple threat in acting, producing, and writing. What drew you to SCAD from Los Angeles? I first heard about SCAD from a friend in the acting program here. Then SCAD actually reached out to me while I was participating in the University Resident Theatre Association showcase. In short order, my admission adviser helped me secure financial aid. My adviser also connected me to another student who needed someone to take over her apartment lease, and I was approved right away. Two days later, I was on a plane to Savannah. After seven years in Los Angeles, I was really itching to return to school. I just love it here.

What influenced your decision to change majors and pursue dramatic writing? Toward the end of my time in Los Angeles, I took on the producer role for a couple of staged readings at the Lobby Theatre and co-produced a music video. I really enjoyed those experiences. Then, during winter quarter at SCAD, I took a class where I was the producer on a podcast. It got me thinking: Am I an actor, or am I something else? I’ve always been a writer. And when I write, I imagine it as a movie. I realized that I’m more of a creator.

You were selected to participate in the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. What did you enjoy most about that experience? SCAD School of Film and Acting dean Andra Reeve-Raab asked me to present an award to Joel Edgerton for Train Dreams. I was able to meet Joel beforehand at his master class, and I had the chance to tell him how much I enjoyed his film Loving. It was very cool. Specifically, the moments of “okay, I did it!” as I got off the stage and seeing all the friendly faces in the audience are great memories. What advice do you have for students interested in attending SCAD? The friendships and working relationships you make are very important. I’d say be honest with yourself about what works for you. At the end of the day, where do you belong? There are so many amazing resources at SCAD and the community is great. I’ve felt very supported by my peers as well as the administration, the staff, and the professors. Everyone here has championed my success. I highly recommend SCAD.

Waranch Equestrian Center, students’ gateway to the professional world. Designed to support this highly disciplined program and host major events for the university’s championship equestrian team, the center features an in-house veterinary staff, industrystandard equipment, two stable barns, three competition arenas, a covered riding arena, paddocks, pastures, and a derby field. Chuck Ryan has never waited for permission. He started his first independent fashion label, Chuck’s Lab, while still in high school, collaborating with NBA and NFL athletes. His first NBA merch drop during his sophomore year at SCAD instantly sold out. Now, Chuck is co-founder of First Draft, the New York–based design studio he leads with fellow SCAD alum Jess Mays. Backed by the multidisciplinary thinking they learned at SCAD, the duo has built an entire creative world of their own making. What led you to SCAD?

What separated SCAD from other schools I toured were the community aspects. I felt there was more space for meeting other people and that SCAD had a lot of culture. I’m a huge fan of collaboration, and I’m very fascinated by things that I’m not good at or that I don’t do. SCAD has all these incredible facilities for students who do things I didn’t even know were possible. From the beginning, I saw that as a huge advantage. I hadn’t seen this collaborative way of doing things at any other university, and I ended up using that system for my projects, like my senior collection.

What SCAD lessons do you apply most often in your work?

Time management. Now that I’m in the real world, it happens all the time that companies need something in a week. That’s impossible for most people, but I’m trained to be able to figure it out. Managing my time at SCAD was a brain exercise that now works to my advantage. I was also able to fully develop my personal design style at SCAD. I had a great illustration professor who introduced me to new mediums that I now use daily.

How did you benefit from SCAD’s industry connections?

My first internship was through SCAD, and I was able to help with sewing and design work for KidSuper’s Paris Fashion Week show. I got connected to KidSuper because Dirk Standen, dean of the SCAD School of Fashion, invited me to a portfolio review with Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA. Steven asked me where I wanted to work and then instantly put me in an email chat with the main person at KidSuper. That was the coolest thing.

How have you stayed connected to SCAD after graduation?

I’m still connected with all my favorite professors. I constantly reach out to Dean Standen for feedback, critiques, or just to check in. SCAD feels like a family. I love how the faculty have their own experience in the industry they’re teaching. They can tell you exactly what it will look like once you graduate.

How does SCAD’s emphasis on collaboration continue to inform your creative approach?

I would say 90% of the people we bring into our projects for First Draft are from our SCAD network. If a friend from New York needs someone for a project, I have a SCAD friend for them. I just put one of my homies in New York, who’s a big fashion designer, in a group chat with a good friend from my fashion class who is a great knitwear designer, and she did three looks for my friend’s new collection. I had such a great experience at SCAD that I’m proud to be around other SCAD alumni. I know they’re well equipped.

For Kalina Richardson, design is the most effective communication tool. Her graphic design work captures attention, conveys complex ideas, and makes an accessible impact, earning multinational acclaim from Graphic Design USA, the International Design Awards, and the Indigo Design Awards. As she prepared to graduate, Kalina reflected on how SCAD has shaped her into who she is today. What led you to SCAD? SCAD was actually the only college I applied to! I knew I wanted a creative career, and I felt that there was something special about the connections you can create within the SCAD ecosystem that makes it different from other schools. My journey into graphic design wouldn’t have happened without being in this space of creatives, pursuing what I love, and extending myself past what I knew I could do. That’s why I chose SCAD.

What is your daily routine? I typically wake up at 5:30 a.m. In addition to my courses, I also have an internship right now. My usual day alternates between class, work, and meetings. I always break for a coffee run, whether it’s a local café or at Maverick Studios, where I intern. The ritual of coffee or matcha is my peace throughout all the busyness that encapsulates my 24 hours.

How does SCAD’s emphasis on collaboration inform your student experience? I’ve completed one SCAD SERVE project, two SCADpro sprints, and I’m on my third SCADpro project now. That’s a lot of collaboration! What I love most about SCAD is that everything is so multidisciplinary, and because of that there is a lot of cross-collaboration between majors. For example, I was in a SCADpro class working on wayfinding and signage for the FIFA World Cup’s Atlanta activations. The project was a blend of 150 students across 12 different majors. We couldn’t produce at the level we did without all 12 of those majors to create the perfect user experience and branding system. What SCAD lessons will you take with you after graduation? Intention is everything. I’ve learned that lesson the most through incorporating fine arts, like my printmaking minor, into my graphic design or visual communication work. You have to be so intentional with each one of your actions because it can greatly impact the final outcome. By making thoughtful decisions, you’re able to communicate a message to your audience that is understandable to all. What are your postgraduate plans? I’ll be moving to Dallas, Texas, to work as a brand and graphic specialist at Corgan, which is an architectural, interior design, and branding firm. I will be focusing on spatial graphics and wayfinding signage for all of their buildings.

A childhood love of cars and a dream to combine tactile skills with artistry in his professional pursuits led Pedro Rodriguez Taddei to SCAD. A Venezuela native, Pedro credits the university’s industrial design program with providing the foundation and opportunities that set the course for his career journey. After earning his B.F.A. in industrial design, Pedro moved to Miami for an internship with Pininfarina, one of the world’s leading luxury automotive companies. Now as a design consultant, Pedro continues the firm’s legacy of creating sleek, showstopping vehicles. How did you decide to attend SCAD?

As a kid, I loved to take apart my toy cars and put them back together, trying to figure them out. I always liked to work with my hands. So, my first thought was mechanical engineering, but my dad is an architect, so I was slightly more inclined toward the artistic side. I started looking for something that involved cars and big products, which is how I found SCAD.

How did SCADpro influence your career goals?

One of my professors, Rafael Corazza — who became the most important person for me at SCAD — encouraged me to apply for the partnership with Volvo, which was amazing. SCADpro collaborations are like mini-internships, guided by your professors. They give you a sense of how to interact with real clients and how to think through the entire creative process. My project was the push I needed to see that I could make essential connections and get a job in the industry.

What was your SCAD StartUp experience like?

I did SCAD StartUp with a few friends, designing a moon rover: essentially a living pod enabling you to inhabit the moon for a few days. We completed the whole project in one night, staying at SCAD’s Gulfstream Center for Design from 3 p.m. until 6 a.m. to finish everything. One of my friends had a connection with NASA, so we were able to have a Zoom meeting with a staff member who provided us with valuable insights and helped make our idea sound realistic. It was fun to have something so quick and exciting to work on, and we won the fan favorite award!

Which university resources were most beneficial to you?

I participated in workshops and portfolio reviews. One workshop was focused on marine design, while another was centered on kinetic design. I attended that workshop three times, and the professor teaching it asked me, “You already came to this. Why are you coming back?” Because it was so interesting! He would bring toys, and we would figure out how they work, take them apart, and put them back together. Every time I returned, I discovered something different, a new perspective on the same task.

Pininfarina has been a recognizable name in vehicle design for nearly a century. How do you help build on that legacy?

I’ve been a Ferrari fan my entire life, and Pininfarina built all the classic Ferraris. They basically started what automotive design is now. If you look at cars from the 1800s, they’re just like boxes. When Pininfarina came along, you could see the elegance of the cars, the surfaces and the curves that create that sense of speed. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that I have reached this point. I think back to when I was a freshman and six years later, I’m here. It feels really cool to keep writing the history of Pininfarina and contribute to its design legacy. I have the opportunity to make a statement and the potential to push boundaries and innovate.

MARIO GOIC

SCAD M.F.A. LUXURY AND BRAND MANAGEMENT When Austrian soccer player Mario Goic came to a crossroads in his national team career, he turned to SCAD to combine his foremost passions: sports and luxury. Mario is a leader on and off the pitch, playing at the NAIA level for SCAD as he completes his thesis, a playbook formalizing luxury brand collaborations with athletes. “I reflect on where I’ve been and the opportunities I have now, and it’s easy to play with a smile on my face,” he said. “Life is sweet.” What led you to SCAD? I was playing soccer professionally for the national team in Austria. I had a Nike deal early on in my career and was supposed to be the next big thing. Then I was injured, and my whole world turned upside down. I didn’t know what to do anymore. My identity was built on being a soccer player, so I had to start from zero. I thought that nothing would fulfill me as much as playing soccer at the national level, but then I was introduced to U.S. soccer scholarships. I could enjoy playing again, and I could get my education. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

How did SCAD support you through that journey? I have a great head coach, John Haworth. He’s from England and knows the ins and outs of soccer. Coach Haworth knew me from my time as a professional soccer player and was grateful to have me. After that experience, I care much more about being a good person than just being a good player, and we have a great relationship based on that human aspect. I learned quite early on that things in life can be taken away. What remains is me, with all my flaws and good stuff too. Coach Haworth has played a massive role in my SCAD career.

What are you exploring in your thesis? My thesis lies at the intersection of luxury and sports, where I aim to create a framework for approaching collaborations and partnerships, which today doesn’t exist. If a luxury brand decides to collaborate with a sports brand, the process is heavily based on intuition, and the key performance indicators used are often outdated. I’m happy to say I caught the attention of Gemma D’Auria, who is a senior partner and global leader of apparel, fashion, and luxury at McKinsey & Company. She’s really interested in the project and has become one of my primary research sources. What other opportunities have you enjoyed while at SCAD? I found my internship with SWH Landscape Architecture through the SCAD Job Portal. As I complete my thesis, I’ve also been working closely with luxury and brand management chair Alessandro Cannatà. He’s someone I see as a mentor and who is setting me up for success. Because of him, I was asked to introduce SCAD events with McKinsey & Company, Domenico De Sole from Gucci and Tom Ford, and Bob Chavez from Hermès Americas. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given at SCAD.

As co-founder of the multidisciplinary studio now open, An Le transcends categorization, garnering acclaim for campaigns with visionary aesthetics and cultural impact. Originally from Vietnam and based in New York, An continues to astound with an enviable portfolio. He has photographed for Vogue, W Magazine, Paper Magazine, i-D, and GQ and collaborated with high-end brands like Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, and Loewe, as well as celebrity clients including Cher and Naomi Campbell. Returning to the university to photograph this year’s catalog cover, An experienced a full-circle moment, re-grounding his professional success in the community and creativity found only at SCAD. What was your process for developing the cover concept?

What I focus on now is fashion photography, but for the cover I wanted something a bit more universal conceptually. Fireworks are intense, exciting, and joyful, but they are also fleeting in the sense that you have to take the moment to appreciate them. Experiencing art is also something you have to embrace in the moment. With fireworks, too, there are all different shapes, forms, and colors — and they all blend beautifully together, like the different backgrounds and talents of SCAD students. The fireworks became a metaphor for the SCAD network, shining bright together. We shot in Savannah at the SCAD Film Studios backlot, which wasn’t here when I was a student, so it was important to me to showcase that. Shooting on this streetscape, at this great resource, felt really special.

What do you hope viewers will take away from this image?

I want them to imagine they are in the scene or think about how the scene came to be or even how they would have photographed it. I hope this image conveys the excitement of coming to SCAD as a new student. It’s this surreal scene and it leaves space to dream. I want them to want to see more, to see what’s inside the catalog and what’s waiting for them here at SCAD.

How did SCAD support your vision?

I was honored to be invited to shoot the catalog cover. It was a very humbling moment, and the SCAD team was so supportive. We took the logistics of the fireworks very seriously, while still allowing the magic to happen. SCAD has so much talent here; we used student models, student designers. I also had a student who assisted me. That’s what I’ve always loved about SCAD: the resources and the access to working professionals that give students as much experience in the field as possible. That’s one of the great strengths of SCAD.

Throughout your work, you do more than just capture a moment — you make it. What does being a creative mean to you?

In my practice, I explore many different mediums and concepts. I love creating narratives through visual metaphors and symbolism. I love literature and poetry, and I bring those elements into my work. I think of myself more like a storyteller than just a photographer. In fashion photography, you need to plan almost everything, but there are always unexpected elements — that tension between capturing and creating a moment. I love bringing people together to make those moments. I couldn’t have done this shoot without such an incredible team who believed in me.

Led by An Le’s vision with the support of SCAD’s visual media team, a cast and crew of students, pyrotechnic experts, and the local fire marshal, the catalog cover shoot charged the SCAD Film Studios backlot with energy and emotion. After rounds of review with An and the team, the top selects were shared in a focus group with current SCAD students who emphasized the importance of imagery with authenticity and accessibility and who resonated with the practical, in‑camera effects. Instantly relating to the metaphor for creativity, they were drawn to the final photograph’s visual storytelling, embodying both their first encounter with SCAD and the bright future that awaits them after graduation.

STEVEN VASIL

SCAD B.F.A. USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN Steven Vasil’s interest in graphic design opened the door to a creative career, and his fascination with user experience design has set him on the path to professional success. Drawn to the university’s UX design program in part for its connection with Google, he has since taken full advantage: rising to co-president of the SCAD UX club FLUX, building a distinctive portfolio in competitions like SCAD StartUp and FLUXathon, and completing SCADpro assignments with Oshkosh and then Lenovo, which led directly to an internship with the tech company. How did you decide to attend SCAD? When researching UX design programs, I took the time to make sure my education would hold real value, and I read that SCAD’s UX program was built in partnership with Google, which was obviously a big name. As I’ve gone through the curriculum, it has matched what initially sparked my interest in UX design and what I wanted from the program, tapping into physical products, physical interface design, general UX principles, and how they relate to psychology and anthropology. The alumni network also

played a huge role in my decision to attend SCAD. I’m the co-president of the SCAD UX club FLUX, which has a strong connection between current students and alumni and has opened opportunities for so many. SCAD grad Angela Martin has been a great mentor and helped me interview for my internship at Lenovo. I’ve actively collaborated with her and another SCAD alum at Lenovo, Savannah Wilkinson. We’re part of a large network of designers who support and improve on one another’s work.

Steven’s passion for the ocean as a place to recharge his creativity and inspiration led to his first professional design work for a sailing company and then to SCAD.

What are the benefits of joining a SCAD club? You’re going to meet people who can help you discover your own worth. A club is also the best way to network, expand your connections, and meet alumni and other leaders in your industry outside of class. Putting in the extra work gives you a competitive edge. It also builds the confidence of open communication with others, which is a crucial skill. What’s your favorite SCAD memory so far? The most rewarding experience I’ve had was finishing the FLUXathon design sprint and hearing from high-level Google designers that they were blown away. I’ve never felt more accomplished. To have them tell us that they really appreciated how far we went and that we exceeded their expectations was amazing. What advice do you have for students considering attending SCAD? Don’t be afraid to showcase who you are as a creative. SCAD is open to people from all walks of life. Experiment, explore, and be curious. That’s the biggest one: Curiosity. Sometimes, the weirdest things you’re throwing together can turn into the best idea. I try to encourage that as much as possible, especially with those initial portfolios you showcase to SCAD when you’re applying. I know that can be stressful for many people. But from what I’ve gathered, you just need to show that you’re curious and willing to think outside the box.

NATIONAL ARCHITECTURAL ACCREDITING BOARD In the United States, most registration boards require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture offered by institutions with U.S. regional accreditation, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. A program may be granted an eight-year term, an eight-year term with conditions, or a three-year term of initial accreditation, depending on the extent of its conformance with established education standards.

COUNCIL FOR INTERIOR DESIGN ACCREDITATION The interior design program leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior design at SCAD Atlanta and SCAD Savannah is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, www.cida.org, 225 Michigan St NW, Unit 1034, Grand Rapids, MI 49501. The CIDA-accredited program prepares students for entry-level interior design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional interior design organizations. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in interior design granted by the Savannah College of Art and Design meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam).
