For more than 15 years, SCAD has been a visionary leader and integral part of the Atlanta arts community. The Peachtree Street installation further embodies SCAD’s exemplary leadership as a champion of the city’s vibrant arts scene. Employing a dreamy color palette, Atlantabased painter Alex Waggoner depicts traditional Southern urban landscapes and buildings, both commercial and residential. Her explorations of architectural individuality encourage thoughtful discourse on forgotten spaces, the in-between, and a structure’s diachronic significance. Since 2019, she has studied the rich history of Atlanta and architecture’s integral role in understanding the city’s cultural narrative. Waggoner has participated in artist residencies at Artspace in Raleigh, N.C., and the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, S.C. Featured in New American Paintings, her works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the U.S. and are held in public and private collections.

Allie Jansen is a conceptual artist and fashion designer whose work blends physical collage, digital workflows, and interpersonal narratives to explore the interconnectivity of creation. Her practice is rooted in the belief that art can serve as both a medium of self-expression and a vehicle for social commentary. Through thoughtful construction and material exploration, Jansen investigates themes of identity, transformation, and belonging. She often combines unconventional materials with traditional techniques, creating works that blur the line between mediums. Her work aims to connect with diverse audiences, challenge conventional norms, and spark dialogue about individuality, inclusivity, and the evolving role of artwork in contemporary culture.

Through sculptural works and paintings, Michael Porten has carved a niche of his own, drawing inspiration from pop culture and iconography. Synthesizing seemingly disparate subjects — rainbows, family, computer art, addiction, and religion — Porten’s exploratory artwork has been featured in solo and group exhibitions at The Late Show Gallery, Kansas City, Mo.; P.J.S. Exhibitions, New York; and ARTery Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach, among other museums and galleries. Additionally, Porten’s art is on view throughout SCAD locations worldwide. In 2016, he was commissioned to create 10 relief portraits for the Savannah Women of Vision, a SCAD investiture honoring female trailblazers for their accomplishments throughout the city’s history. Raised in Huntsville, Ala., Porten lives and works in Savannah, Ga.
