OUR MISSION

PLATFORM OF PRINCIPLES

The Stony Brook Assembly, established in the early 20th century, was founded on the guiding principles listed below. SBS faculty are expected to affirm and uphold these truths.

I. The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ.

II. The need and efficacy of the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ for the redemption of the world.

III. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of redemption.

IV. The divine institution and mission of the Church.

V. The divine inspiration, integrity, and authority of the Bible.

VI. The broad and binding obligation resting upon the Church for the evangelization of the world.

VII. The consummation of the Kingdom in the appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.

OUR SCHOOL

Since 1922, The Stony Brook School has been a Christian boarding and day school committed to an academic program shaped by the conviction that “All truth is God’s Truth.” Our teaching pursues excellence in all things to challenge students to pursue moral character and spiritual growth. At Stony Brook, our rigorous curriculum and instruction flows from our Christian mission rather than against it. In classrooms, dorms, chapels, and across campus life, we form young men and women to think carefully, live faithfully, and serve generously, prepared for college and for a life of purpose.

Our scenic 55 acre campus is located on Long Island’s North Shore about 50 miles from NYC. Within minutes of our campus is access to the best of Long Island and New York City. Long Island Rail Road station is directly across from campus and gives direct access to Penn Station, Grand Central, & JFK Airport JFK and LGA are 40 miles away and ISP is just 15 minutes away The nearby Port Jefferson ferry to Connecticut offers easy access to New England Across the street from the world-class Stony Brook University (SUNY)

OUR COMMUNITY

A Typical Faculty Load

Teaching: 4–5 classes with an average class size of 13

Co-curriculars: Lead or coach 1-2 activities or sports

Residential: Serve as a member of a dorm or supervisory team, consisting of one night or afternoon a week and also 5 weekends a year
