Introduction

Welcome to Launch 2023, our two-week induction designed to help you prepare for the MBA programme.

Over the coming days, you will attend a selection of specially curated events, activities, and workshops to equip you with enhanced personal and professional development skills. It will be your chance to set expectations for the coming academic year, create a solid foundation for learning, and build strong relationships with your class.

Throughout Launch, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to start planning your career journey You will hear from experts in coaching, personal branding, psychometric analysis, networking and sector areas through interactive masterclasses, group work, and one-to-ones

Our induction series will also see the presence of our co-curricular and service partners due to play a crucial role in your programme experience. They will be on hand to answer any questions you may have in their respective areas.

Your leadership journey with us starts here, and congratulations once again for starting the MBA programme.

We hope you have an enjoyable Launch experience, and we look forward to connecting with you all at various points in time.

An exciting exchange about the world of business and journalism, our opening keynote will hear from Angela Ahrendts DBE, an American British Businesswoman, former CEO of Burberry, and Senior VP of Apple, in conversation with Thorold Barker, Editor EMEA at the Wall Street Journal. Drawing from the personal experiences of our speakers themselves, this segment will share how they’ve successfully leveraged the industry to their advantage

End day one of Launch on a high with our first social event of the calendar. This gathering will act as a space to reflect on day one of your induction with your fellow peers, and members of the Oxford Saïd team. Better together: Designing diverse, high performance teams

In this session, you will meet and work with your study team for the first time You will do a practical, hands-on teamwork exercise to break the ice, and get to know your teammates. We will then be drawing on the lessons from that exercise, and your own previous experience of working in teams, to understand the importance of teamwork as a crucial component of your journey throughout the MBA. Be it for socialising and mutual support, or joint learning and assessment

These pathways sessions are designed to help you better navigate the possibilities across the programme and provide more opportunities to align your career outcomes with your on-programme experience Hear from our Faculty, the Career Development Centre and associated co-curricular programmes to explore your route into Global industry sectors.

Hear from Faculty Members, the Head of Global Industry Careers (Dan Kiernan) and his team (James Henton, Madeleine Paler and Becki Morris) and senior alumna Marisha Naz (MBA 2017-18, Decarbonisation and Sustainability Product Manager Partner –Amazon, Luxembourg) to understand how you can leverage your MBA to explore your route into Global Industries

We also have a panel of recent MBA students working in telco, ecommerce, product strategy and marketing to share their experiences about making the most of the opportunities at the School.

This session will see Dyedra share her expertise in study skills and learning techniques. Centered around her research in the area, Dyedra will illustrate how you can improve vital skills in the realm of study, including your revision style and time management to name a few.
