SUMMER OF FUN AT SYC A Look Into the Sessions of Summer Camp
What an incredible summer it has been! We truly enjoyed getting to know your sailors and watching them grow on the water. Over the course of camp, they have worked hard and learned a wide range of foundational sailing skills- from knots and parts of the boat to points of sail, tacking, gybing, and so much more. This was a wonderful group to work with, and we could not be prouder of what they accomplished!
Sailing is a truly remarkable sport that builds independence, leadership, decision-making, and lifelong skills that extend far beyond the water. We would love to keep your sailors growing. No matter where your sailor is on their journey, there is a place for them here at Savannah Yacht Club.

WATER WORLDS Last summer, we introduced a new class of sailing camp called Water Worlds — a half-day camp for kids ages 5–7 designed to help them get comfortable out on the water and introduce them to the world of sailing. We like to tell parents that Water Worlds is the introduction to our introto-sailing classes. This past summer was a great success for our Water Worlds groups. The kids had a blast, and we saw real improvement in these young sailors. A few of them loved it so much that they signed up for our full-day camp, Harbor Mice, the very next week. Throughout the week, campers learned the parts of the boat, how to tack in an Opti, and how to safely right a flipped Opti — all while having plenty of fun swimming in the river and jumping off the dock. We also ran a tow drill, where campers took the helm of an Opti connected to the coach boat for a ride down Tom Thumb and back, learning to steer while spotting dolphins along the way. The week wrapped up with coaches taking campers out on some of our bigger sailboats to give them a taste of what it's like to sail under sail power. We'd love to welcome your sailors back to Water Worlds next summer — or, if they're ready for more, we hope you'll consider signing them up for Green Fleet this fall! Keep an eye out for registration details as next season approaches.
