Benjamin C. Douglass joined the Connecticut 26th Volunteer Infantry, Company D in November, 1862. His regiment, along with several others, took part in the Siege of Port Hudson, May 23 - July 9, 1863. This student book accompanies the video recounting the letter he wrote to his wife on July 6, 1863. It includes several diary entries written by Union and Confederate soldiers related to the Siege of Port Hudson.
