CHATTER BOX Your fortnightly bulletin for SaTH colleagues and events Friday 22 May 2026
Nurses’ Day 2026 On Tuesday 12 May we celebrated International Nurses’ Day - taking time to recognise and thank our nurses, healthcare support workers, nursing associates, registered nurses and student nursing associates across the Group.
Across those nominations, a few things kept coming up: colleagues described as exceptional, kind and caring, dedicated and compassionate. These words reflect what nursing means across our Group, and they are something we can all be proud of.
We’re proud to have 3,393 nursing colleagues who care for patients every day. Their skill, compassion and commitment make a real difference, often at the most difficult moments in people’s lives.
If you nominated someone, or were nominated yourself, keep an eye on your inbox as we share certificates and citations to recognise these contributions.
This year’s International Nurses’ Day felt especially important as we continue our first year as a Group. Working together strengthens the nursing voice, supports closer collaboration across hospital and community services, and helps us deliver safer, more joined-up care. Our nurses are at the centre of this, supporting patients and each other every step of the way.
International Nurses’ Day is also a chance for all of us to say thank you. Many colleagues got involved by sharing stories, sending Star Cards, or taking a moment to recognise a teammate.
No matter the setting or the role, what stands out is a shared commitment to making a difference. That came through clearly in our recent ‘Nursing Hero’ nominations. We received a huge number of entries, each recognising the dedication and impact of our colleagues.
We know the last year has not been easy. Despite ongoing challenges, our nurses continue to go above and beyond, showing professionalism, kindness and resilience every single day. Thank you to all our nursing colleagues for everything you do. We hope you felt recognised and appreciated, not just on 12 May, but every day.
