How lucky am I that TWO of our Saratoga TODAY contributors have off-spring who were both married THIS year – our 20th Anniversary Year?! – too cool! This issue is slightly different than most, as BOTH parents love to write –and we LOVE to hear what they have to say! …talk about the STARS ALIGNING! Thank you John and Colleen for sharing your most precious days with us (PS… That beautiful bride on our cover is John Reardon’s daughter). ������

Since this is Saratoga TODAY’s 20th Anniversary, I’ve been going through back issues (amazingly, I remember so many of my past brides!) but what I’d like to comment on is how many of our original advertisers are still with us! (Here is an alphabetical listing from the first few issues, back when we started Saratoga BRIDE. Chad’s first version was Enchanted Wedding, but more about that in our 20th Anniversary Keepsake, due out April 17).

Magazines was invited to the screening of the June Farms reality show on Amazon Prime (!!) I knew this was going to be HUGE for the wedding industry in the Mid-Hudson Valley and Capital Region – I mean Matt has been a star for years – everything he touches turns to gold! And…Being on the farm is like…Stepping into a storybook experience!

June Farms, (as I’m sure EVERYBODY has heard of by now!) is the wildly photogenic 120-acre event venue in West Sand Lake and the star of its own reality show, (now streaming on Amazon Prime). All this filming was happening like 30 minutes from our farm in Stephentown! And I had NO IDEA, I can’t believe they kept this under wraps till the big reveal!

The series, June Farms, features behind-the-scenes moments with farm founder, Albany restauranteur Matt Baumgartner, and the farm’s staff, showcasing the charm of this special space while chronicling the ups and downs of the event business.

Mazzone

IN THE BERKSHIRES

Mazzone Hospitality, known for its premier catering and hospitality services, announced a partnership with Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires, owned by builder and entrepreneur Eric Taylor. Mazzone will be the exclusive caterer and managing partner of the luxury retreat and wedding venue in Lanesborough, Mass.

Located one hour from Albany, two hours from Boston and minutes from Tanglewood, the all-season cottage resort is situated on Pontoosuc Lake in the foothills of the Berkshires with Mount Greylock, the highest peak in the state, as a prominent backdrop to the west. Its luxury lodging features seven cottages, ranging from two to four bedrooms. Depending on the guest matrix, the property can comfortably accommodate 50 to 60 overnight guests. The cottages may be rented individually or as full-property buyout, which is required for weddings.

“The Lake House is a one-of-a-kind, fourseason retreat and wedding venue and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Eric Taylor, a highly respected local builder and developer, to help grow this destination property,” said Vice President of Mazzone Hospitality Tim Vennard. “Having previously catered an event at the Lake House Cottages, we have always been interested in returning to the Berkshires to serve local clientele.”

One of Northeast’s leading hospitality and catering brands extends its footprint into the Berkshires!

A proposal for the construction of a 6,000-square-foot, two-story welcome center on the property to attract yearround family and corporate events, retreats and teambuilding activities is currently under review by the Town of Lanesborough. The first floor will feature a front-facing great room with a modern commercial kitchen to the rear. The second floor will serve as two staff apartments. The project is expected to be completed by Memorial Day, 2026.

Taylor built the Lake House Guest Cottages of the Berkshires in 2015-2016. The resort today largely serves as a premier weekend wedding destination for guests from across the United States and as far away as Europe, Asia and Australia.

“My goal has been to expand our current capabilities and to elevate this beloved property into more of a year-round destination. Once I started to research Mazzone Hospitality, I was immediately impressed with their own evolution,” said Taylor.

“Mazzone has built a stellar reputation for serving premier guests and properties, and I firmly believe they will be great stewards of the Lake House and a welcome addition to the local community.”

Mazzone Hospitality currently serves numerous premier venues across New York’s Capital Region: Saratoga National Golf Club; the Hall of Springs; and the 1863 Club at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY; The Kenmore Ballroom in Albany, NY; The Loft 433 in Troy, NY; and the Albany Capital Center, a modern convention center located in the heart of the New York state capital.

Mazzone Hospitality will retain all Lake House personnel and has committed to honoring all existing Lake House contracts through the end of 2026.

“Children who grew up in Berkshire County and Western Massachusetts have become some of the Lake House’s most loyal ambassadors. Many moved away for college or careers, only to return years later to celebrate their own weddings at the property. This returning demographic has become a cornerstone of the venue’s wedding business,” said Taylor.

“The Lake House also benefits from a unique ripple effect; guests who attend a wedding often choose to host their own celebrations at the same location. This dynamic has created a ‘captive audience’ of future clients, further solidifying the Lake House as a premier destination for milestone events,” he added.

During the wedding off-season, roughly late October to May, the Lake House primarily hosts family retreats, reunions and corporate events. Mazzone Hospitality aims to broaden these opportunities by welcoming more community-focused and social events, including fundraisers, milestone birthday celebrations, baby showers, holiday parties and elegant galas. By expanding into these areas, the Lake House can remain an active, vibrant destination year-round. Taylor believes that the partnership with Mazzone will play a pivotal role in achieving this vision as well as help elevate the guest experience and attract a wider range of clients and community organizations.

“The new Welcome Center and customized commercial kitchen will play a significant role in serving year-round guests,” added Vennard.

“Daddy’s Girl”

Something not a lot of people are fortunate enough to call themselves. From listening to classic rock on his old vinyl records, watching the Yankees, Saturday Night Live, and a lot of classic movies, my dad and I have always shared a truly special father-daughter bond. It is true, I will always be the loudest laugh in the room when my dad tells a joke. I get my dad and I truly am his mini-me.

When it comes to wedding planning, most fathers take a back seat. My father wanted to be involved in the entire process, to make sure I got everything I ever dreamed of. My dad’s answers to many things throughout the wedding planning process was “As you wish.” From the get go, he helped us in securing the band, the venue, the wedding planner, and the caterer. It was all out of love and the desire to give his little girl everything she ever dreamed of, and I am so grateful he was there through it all.

When it came time to walk down the aisle, I knew I wanted this moment to be an extra special moment, not just for me walking towards my husband-to-be, but for the moment my father has been talking about and realistically dreading, since the day I was born. “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac has always been a special song for me and my dad. He used to sing it to me to get me to go to sleep and I always saw him tear-up a little when it would come on as I started to grow-up. “This is for you, Daddy” is what Stevie Nicks says at the beginning of the famous live version of “Landslide,” and the part in the song that I surprised my dad with to signal us to begin walking down the aisle. This time we both teared up! As we walked down the aisle, I really let the lyrics of the song hit me, walking arm-in-arm with my father. “I’ve been afraid of changing, ‘cause I've built my life around you. Time makes you bolder, even children get older and I’m getting older too.”

I remember gripping my dad tight as this line was played and looking at him to see if he was crying, but instead, I saw him with a beaming smile looking towards my husband-to-be. I then let out my own beaming smile, first at the man who raised me and taught me how to be strong, resilient, and to never settle for anything less than I deserve. I then smiled up towards the man my father always told me would come into my life someday. Another special moment every father dreams about when he has a daughter is the father-daughter dance. My dad knew from the day I was born which song we would dance to someday; “Aubrey” by Bread. This is the song I was named after and another song that had been sung to me by both my parents throughout my childhood. I have always known how much this song meant to my dad and I loved every minute of hearing it - on repeat, multiple times a week - for the 4 months of dance lessons we took! Dance lessons with my dad were an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life. Dancing is a family affair with the Reardon family and serendipitously, how I met my husband. When it came time to perform the dance on the wedding day, I started off trying to lead my dad and whisper the counts to him and then I realized something: my dad was just happy to be dancing with me. It didn’t matter how perfectly we got down the steps; this moment was the moment he had dreamed of since the first day he held me. I felt that happiness radiate from him as we glided across the dance floor. We finished the dance, not a step missed or out of sync, just my dad and I having fun out there doing a dance that both of us have dreamed of since I was a child. In true gymnast-dad fashion, we decided to end our dance by saluting a “gymnastics salute” towards my three former gymnastics coaches sitting at their table. They flashed a perfect 10.0 for us at the end of the dance (a surprise for me and my dad, organized by my mom!) and the moment was captured by two pictures I will cherish for the rest of my life. My dad has always been so proud of my gymnastics career, and it was just such a perfect moment to celebrate that.

To the women planning their wedding who are fortunate enough to still have their fathers in their lives: let him be a part of this process and hold him a little tighter each day. Do the dance lessons, take him to the tastings, let him be a part of music choices, enjoy the moment walking down the aisle together. In his eyes, you are still just his little girl twirling around on the dance floor and it truly is his dream to give you the world on your special day.

Thank you dad, for all the love and support both you and mom gave me throughout this wedding planning process and even more so, for the love you have given and continue to give me every single day. I hope that someday, if Eric and I are ever blessed with a daughter, we can give her the same love and support that I have been lucky enough to have from you and mom.

“Dance With Me, Mom”

When our oldest son was 5, we moved to the Saratoga Springs area and built our dream home. Our living room sat vacant for a few years as we become used to the larger mortgage and bills that came with a bigger house. But that empty room turned into a dance floor, and it’s where I’d twirl my baby boys and dance the days away. Carly Simon’s “Clouds in My Coffee” was a favorite as it referenced Saratoga and winning at the races. The boys couldn’t believe that where we lived was in a song!! By the time my eldest son, Matthew, was in middle school, that dance floor was filled with furniture... but the memory of time spent dancing remained. He’d declared to his friends, “When I get married someday, that’s the song my mom and I will dance to!” Years later, my Matty hints to me this will be our song for that very special day! A break out dance no one will expect... Oh dear... What have I done!... “No, No, No…NOT “You’re so Vain” on your wedding day!” I’d declare over the years... But sure enough, the engagement came and the song went on the schedule for our Mother and Son Dance in my son’s mind. Now what? That little boy’s voice whispered to me... “Dance with me, Mom!” ...How could I say no!

This was all a blessing in disguise! We spent a few weeks tweaking three songs together... opening with a more traditional dance, “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack (my favorite for my boys)... record scratch transition…and Carly’s “Clouds” appearing out of nowhere. Tastefully, we exited into another favorite to close out the set.

Our next plight... choreographing our masterpiece. We tried on our own but soon hired the Arthur Murray Dance Studio to put the professional touch on our big dance. Our instructor was spectacular weaving footsteps, movement, twist and twirls into our routine. It was the sweetest, most cherished three weeks with my son... Matt and I snuck out to the dance studio, unbeknownst to anyone, not even the bride. I remember him saying, “I want to learn how to twirl you around Mom!”...and that he did. Our two hour sessions were exhilarating and magical. As our song came together, we added props and finalized details that brought his dream to fruition. Every minute I had with my boy in preparation for this very special day was priceless!

On the day of his wedding... with my hair and makeup complete, we snuck outside onto to the patio to practice our routine just one last time! He said to me, “We got this... let’s just have fun!” And that we did! My son spun me around the dance floor... we threw thousands of dollars (fake... yes) into the air when “your horse naturally won” sang out and we earned a huge applause from our guests! One of his best friends in attendance that day, was waiting for “Clouds” and thought we decided to nix the idea. The minute the soundtrack scratched and we pulled away from our slow dance, He knew exactly what we were doing!

What a full circle moment in time it had been... from spinning him as a boy to being spun by him on this momentous occasion. On the ride home, I finally let out all my emotions, crying all the way home as the day couldn’t have been any more beautiful! ...I danced with my boy and he spun me around...

I hope one day... he takes the time to dance with his daughters... round and round in their home... making memories that will last until one day they say to him... “Dance with me, Dad!”

A Father of the Bride Reflects on...

HIS LITTLE GIRL’S WEDDING

Hello my Foodie Friends!

There are only a few moments in life when time slows down enough to let you take it all in. The day our daughter Aubrey was married was one of those days. A wedding is one of those major moments in a parent’s journey. As you watch your child get married, you realize that your mission as a parent continues and changes. During the day of the wedding, I knew our daughter was ready for this and I was proud of her. I knew our relationship would continue to grow and develop as the years continued and I will always be thankful for being a “girl Dad” to Aubrey Kate Reardon.

The relationship between a father and daughter comes with a cartload of emotional gravity. This love is often written in books, songs, and it lives as examples in our everyday lives. My father-daughter bond included times of watching baseball games and rattling off stats about the players, and the endless fun of quoting favorite songs and movies, making my fatherhood a thousand times more special with my daughter. It meant sometimes as a dad, attending a tea party or watching a kid’s show repeatedly or attending Gymnastics competitions all over the U.S.A. From the time I first combed her hair to the time I helped her solve a math problem, to when her future spouse walked up to me for permission to marry my daughter, our father-daughter relationship has become a tapestry studded by gems of memories. And when it comes to the wedding of your daughter, you better hold on since emotions definitely run high.

So here it was, the day of the wedding. I recall whispering to myself, “This is really it!” My wife had her role in being by Aubrey’s side the entire morning with the plethora of events and preparation. My job was to get ready -and be ready on time- which is something of a challenge for this Dad.

One of the first events I needed to be prepared for was the “First look with the father of the bride.” Aubrey had planned a private first look before we headed to the wedding. I had dreamt of this day since she was born. I was able to share this special moment of the “first look” with my son John. There is something special and magical about the first moment when a father sees his daughter as a bride. This is a time that continues to celebrate that bond that has been shaped for a lifetime, becoming a moment that provides an emotional anchor before walking down the aisle. As I turned, my jaw dropped and I gasped “You look beautiful!” Aubrey asked if I liked her dress and I responded with tears “You look incredible.” As I turned to look at my son, he was crying with emotion at seeing his sister. All I could think of at that moment was flashing back to when they were very little and I had both of them in front of a big mirror in our bathroom. I had put shaving cream on the three of us and gave them “play” shavers with me having a real one. Aubrey watched me intently and tried the hardest to shave her face. As I watched my daughter, Aubrey had to make sure she did a twirl for her dad. I knew she spent months and a lifetime dreaming of her wedding dress and it was a spotlight stealer for sure! As she gave an eyeful bridal look, she twirled to show off her dress.

One of the most touching moments at a wedding is when a father walks his daughter down the aisle. It is a symbol of a father’s blessing to the couple. I had a lot of anticipation of our walk down the aisle together, the feeling of “this is it” for the both of us and the emotions. As we waited for our moment after the procession of the wedding party, I gave Aubrey a teary hug, a kiss on the cheek, and a proud look, as I took in our private moment between a father and daughter before she walked down the aisle and I handed her over to the love of her life. I held her hand through my arm. My mind was filled with memories of my hold as she was learning to walk, and capturing her when she would fall off a bike, and now holding her as she boldly stepped into this new period of your adult life. This was the bitter-sweet moment where I really had to hold back my tears as I neared the end of the aisle… to hand her over.

Giving away your daughter is an emotional time for both the father and the daughter. Before handing Aubrey over, and the hand shake for my son-in-law, I was sure to sneak in a warm hug and a kiss proudly announcing that “I am her father” in front of our guests. There were a ton of emotions right there, the emotions of a father who is handing his daughter over to a happily ever after.

The Father-daughter Dance: We practiced and took professional lessons for months! Ah, there is something special about the dance between a father and his newly married daughter which makes our hearts burst. For me, my focus was to get my steps right and to take in the song that I had sung to her since she was born, “Aubrey” by the musical group Bread. My daughter quietly whispered as we did each step the words that we practiced in the dance studio, “slow, slow quick.” Her voice comforted me as we twirled and followed the dance created for our song. I am happy to say “I nailed it!”

The Father’s toast and words of wisdom becomes the way to best say what advice to give. Many of you may be aware that I have a strong passion for the movies. As I mulled over what words to use, I drew upon how over the years, my family has shared in watching the movie greats and love stories that span different generations. In honor of this special bond we share, I chose to make a tribute to “love” while capturing some of the most well-known and beautiful quotes from the movies.

Life itself is a movie we make every day – and we keep adding to the story as the years go by. Like the movies, our lives include supporting characters of family and friends that are part of the shared stories and experiences we have. Some of the greatest directors have captured the core of love, life, and commitment creating timeless quotes.

Well, the rest of the wedding was a blur. Of course, there was the incredible food, amazing band and lots of dancing. Before I knew it, I was sitting in a chair trying to recount what just happened. What will her life be like? What role will I have in the ongoing seasons ahead?

There are many more wonderful emotions and memories that we are still processing, so ask me to talk about it the next time you see me. And to the memories of the day that remind us that love … real love… is both the beginning and the goodbye. To my Aubrey: “You got this. I’m so proud of you. And I’m so glad the day arrived that you begin a new journey with the love of your life. I consider it a privilege to have been able to help raise you. I look forward to our relationship growing and developing over time and will always be thankful I get to be the father of Doctor Aubrey Kate Cassidy.

SERENDIPITY

Jenna Cottrell and Zachary Smith were like two ships passing in the night. They lived in the same building, used the same gym, and went to the same hairdresser, but it wasn’t until she set them up, that this couple finally met one another.

The first time Zack asked Jenna out, she declined. When he asked again a couple weeks later, Jenna agreed. Two years later, the couple was engaged.

Jenna, a 2009 Saratoga Springs High School graduate, Sports Anchor and Reporter at ABC 13 WHAM in Rochester, is accustomed to being poised and camera-ready, but during Zack’s proposal that December morning in 2023 – an unbelievable surprise in the middle of the craziness of football’s mid-season – she was shaking.

Jenna’s parents and big sister, Alissa, arrived an hour later for what was suddenly an extra-special celebratory weekend. Jenna’s mom, Valerie, booked the couple’s June 28, 2025 wedding at the Canfield Casino the following Monday.

“I love Saratoga. It’s where I grew up and is such a cool place to be!” said Jenna. “I love seeing how much it’s grown, and I love seeing people experience it for the first time. With so much extended family coming in from Massachusetts, it’s also a nice ‘meet in the middle’ spot for all of us.”

Like the couple, ninety percent of their 165 guests would be visiting Saratoga from out of town– a poignant moment for the family - one they feared might never come, as both Jenna, and her brother, Garrett, battled cancer.

After graduating from Syracuse University and moving to Rochester in 2016, Jenna was busy pursuing her dream job when, shortly after her 26th birthday, she had exploratory surgery and received the devastating news; she had Stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma. The diagnosis sent a shockwave through her family, which had already battled Garrett’s cancer (Read “The Power of a Love Story” for more on the Cottrell family’s touching journey on saratogaTODAYnewspaper.com).

Following two rounds of chemotherapy, Jenna lost her hair. It was hard to recognize herself in the mirror, and she was terrified every step of the way, but the experience taught her how to live more courageously, she said.

While in remission, Jenna flipped her life upside down, left her boyfriend of four years, and weathered the whirlwind of readjusting, she remembers, tears welling up in her famously “leaky eyes.”

One thing Jenna said she really loves about Zack (who grew up in Webster, NY, played Division 1 Football at Colgate University, and now works in cybersecurity) is how calm, accepting, and understanding he is of her past, and how it may shape their future.

Jenna’s fans have also been unbelievably supportive, she said, as they witnessed her life unfold on-air, celebrated by her best friend, Dan Fetes, (Jenna’s cohost on Buffalo Plus, a YouTube podcast covering The Buffalo Bills for 40,000+ subscribers). Dan was great at getting everyone psyched up “preparing for the big game,” her nuptials, where he’d be officiating.

Jenna and Zack’s wedding weekend kicked off in the heart of Saratoga on Friday night with an intimate rehearsal dinner and drinks for all at Jacob & Anthony’s. By Saturday morning, the mood was tense - a Tornado Warning was issued - threatening to ruin the outdoor ceremony in Congress Park that Jenna had dreamed of.

Just as they were scheduled to begin, the weather cleared. It was a gift, said Jenna, from her grandparents (whom she had always been close to). When she heard “…you’re going to have it your way or nothing at all…” from TLC’s song “Waterfalls” playing in the background, it was a nod from her grandfather, she said, who had passed in May.

A sentimental first look and heartfelt private exchanging of vows were followed by a beautiful public park ceremony and a rocking reception at the historic Canfield Casino. The timeless venue was highlighted by Distinctive Catering’s excellent food, and flower arrangements by Robin Holland of Goode Farms, featuring gorgeous greens, delightful creams, and pops of Saratoga’s sea blues. To end the elegant evening, guests headed to Broadway for an afterparty at The Bunker.

On Sunday, Valerie and Ben Cottrell invited guests to their home for brunch catered by The Omelette King. “They’d spent every weekend beforehand getting ready. It was really cool to see how excited they were,” said Jenna, adding, “Sunday was really great because we could actually talk to people and not be pulled in a million different directions.”

Jenna and Zack enjoyed a “mini-moon” in Cape Cod, and are looking forward to their “later-moon,” an extended couple’s getaway in Greece, this May.

Nick and I met like any other person our age does… on a dating app!

We hit it off on Bumble and have been together ever since.

Fast forward three years and Nick sends me flowers at work one day, with a note to meet him for dinner at Prime in Saratoga. When I arrived, I was ushered to a private room, filled with beautiful flowers from Frank Gallo Florist and pictures of us through the years! We had a beautiful dinner and during dessert a plate came outwith another note! - asking me to marry him! The ring and him on one knee followed… I said YES!

As a wedding coordinator, planning a wedding came easy to me and we were thrilled to work with local Capital Region vendors. Melody Manor had everything we needed in a venue- a suite to get ready, fully covered event space to fit all our guests and breathtaking views and beautiful structures that made for perfect photos.

Nick and I met in the fall of 2017 on Hinge. Our very first conversation was about buffalo chicken, which is still a shared obsession! We soon realized we had lots of mutual friends. I even texted one before our first date to make sure Nick was a good guy, and he passed with flying colors.

Our first date was at a wine garden, and it was incredible. That night, Nick told his roommate (who happened to go to high school with me!) that he was going to marry me. About a month later, we made it official.

Since then, we've built a wonderful life together full of laughter, travel, and our beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Paddington. We love being out and about with friends and spending time in our favorite places, like Nantucket and Saratoga.

Nick proposed at The Sagamore in Lake George in August 2023, completely surprising me. When planning the wedding, we wanted something classic and beautiful, with only our closest loved ones there, no first-time introductions. Privacy and a personal touch were key and the Gideon Putnam was the perfect fit.

We brought in a Nantucket-inspired feel with blue and white tones and lots of hydrangeas. The venue was elegant, the energy was joyful, and the dance floor stayed packed all night. We felt so incredibly loved and surrounded by exactly the people who make our life so special.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake we had a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Cart. It was such a hit for our guests! We have never been a fan of cake so having an ice cream cart felt more authentic to us.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG

Choose a wedding venue that has a backup rain plan that you love. This will help alleviate stress leading up to the wedding day. We chose our venue because we loved the option to be able to take photos outside, even in the rain. Leading up to our wedding the weather forecast kept getting worse by the day. There was even a flood warning on our wedding day. However, I did not worry about it because I knew the day and photos would be beautiful no matter the weather.

Spencer and I met on Tinder back in September of 2021. My mom loves to joke that he really did "swipe right" lol. Over our first few dates we soon realized how similar we were to one another and how well we worked as a couple. Despite it being peak Covid, we bonded over our love of trying new restaurants and traveling to new places.

Fast forward about a year and we moved into our first apartment together. I've always been a huge “dog person” so naturally a puppy came next! Bringing our Dalmatian, Penny into our lives has made us grow so much closer. We both had to adjust to new potty-training schedules, lol and have tough conversations to make sure we were both able to accomplish our goals. In June 2024 Spencer proposed on the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine on our way to dinner. Maine has always been paradise to us and now knowing we got engaged in our favorite place makes it even more special. I've always been obsessed with weddings and have always looked forward to planning my own someday, so naturally, I got right to work!

Despite me planning the majority of our wedding, there were plenty of incredible surprises throughout the day. My dad wrote and recorded a song for our father/daughter dance, and we surprised my nowhusband with a live cannoli piping on the dance floor courtesy of Mazzone Hospitality. The team at the Sablewood went above and beyond to make sure the day went off without a hitch, they even let us decide on an indoor/outdoor ceremony an hour before our guests arrived! Our day could not have been more perfect, and we are both so grateful to our families for such a special day.

Dan and I initially crossed paths in Ithaca in college, surrounded by a great friend group, all passionate about Trivia Tuesday at the bar we both worked at. After a few early dates enjoying beers, catching up on family, and the conversation just flowing, it was clear a future was on the horizon.

When I graduated and was offered a job in Los Angeles, we packed up to start our West Coast adventure, convenient since that was where Dan is originally from. Road trips, sunburns, hikes, tacos, and a new time zone allowed us to form our identity as a couple. However, a few years later, home was calling us both back to the 518. Once settled into our new Saratoga routine of bowling league, lake days, and fall foliage, we knew we were ready for what was next. On a cold March day (classic for Upstate New York!), Dan proposed in our tiny downtown Saratoga living room. Celebratory drinks at Druthers followed, and then it was time to plan the big day. Deciding to have our wedding (and all its weekend events) at Anne’s Washington Inn was a clear choice. We wanted to show our friends and family what Saratoga had to offer, and AWI’s convenience to downtown, blended with their family-owned, small-town charm, exceeded our wildest dreams and expectations. Anthony’s first message to me was on Facebook complimenting my mile time at Orange Theory. It was the first time someone started a conversation with me and caught me by surprise. After one day of messaging each other, he asked me out on a date. After one date, it quickly went from seeing each other two times a week to everyday. We spent our first year-and-a-half together mostly at my apartment at Frog Alley and then I moved into his house in Albany. We love little getaways together, ice cream trips, long walks, looking for the best coffee shops, and spending time with family. He proposed at my favorite vacation spot, Nantucket, MA (we go to Cape Cod every July with my family) in front of a lighthouse – which I had no idea about! We got married eight months after our proposal and that day was absolute perfection. We spent our honeymoon where we got engaged, Nantucket, and the past nine (+) months married have been amazing for us. Our relationship and love grows more and more. We are currently looking for our home to start a family together in.

I'm originally from Saratoga but moved to Rochester, NY for work and that's where I met Zack. But we actually knew each other long before we officially met, though neither of us realized it at the time. We lived in the same apartment building, went to the same gym, and even had the same hairdresser. Back in 2017, he worked from home and often took the best parking spot in our lot. I would mutter under my breath about somebody "stealing" the closest space, never imagining it was my future husband. My mom, Val, still remembers that big car that always took the best spot.

It wasn't until 2021 that we finally met, thanks to our mutual hairdresser, Heather, who saw the potential in the two of us. Zack is funny, calm, and caring. He balances my loud and loving nature. From that first introduction, it just clicked.

After we started dating, we fell hard. In December 2023, just days after Christmas, Zack proposed at 9:30 a.m. at home, just the two of us. I was in my bathrobe, so yes, I was surprised, but it was perfect. Even though we live in Rochester, I knew I wanted to get married in Saratoga. Centrally located for our extended families and beautiful in the summer, we chose the Canfield Casino for its history, location, and charm. Our wedding day was magical. Sharing our love with friends and family in a place that means so much to us was everything.

A blue-eyed boy met a brown-eyed girl on July 13, 2023, and it was the sweetest thing. Like many couples in the 21st century, we met on the dating app. For a first date, we met at The Liberty Hotel and walked along the Esplanade to Owl’s Nest, which then led to us checking out 1928 Beacon Hill. It was a great first date filled with lots of chatting and espresso martinis. Rob even wooed me by learning how to make espresso martinis from a bartender in Doonbeg, Ireland during a golf trip. We continued going on fun dates throughout the summer and quickly realized we were smitten with each other. Things with Rob were just easy and we complemented one another so well. Fast forward to September 21, 2024, Rob proposed at Oak Long Bar at the Fairmont Copley. Oak is one of Rob’s favorite spots in Boston and a place that was also special to his grandfather. When it came time to choose a venue, we looked around Boston but ultimately decided that a wedding weekend in Saratoga would create lifelong memories for us and our guests. Saratoga has always been special to me since I grew up in Latham, and as long as I can remember, my summers included trips to Saratoga Race Track. Rob who is originally from Topsfield, MA attended Union College and had not experienced much of Saratoga while in college. He loved the idea of having golf courses nearby for the weekend, along with a vibrant downtown for guests to explore. I only made one venue appointment during our trip to NY to check out wedding bands and that was the Hall of Springs. I had always loved how romantic and unique it felt, and it turned out to be perfect for us.

Our wedding day was beyond special. As we were saying our vows at Saint Clement’s Church, it began to downpour. I truly believe it was a sign from my dad giving his blessing and shedding a few happy tears. The rest of the day was filled with sunshine and warmth. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue, the food, the band, and the favors. Now we have beautiful photos and a wedding video to relive it all. We were so lucky to have incredible vendors who brought our vision to life and we are beyond anything we could have imagined.

FRIDAY: DAY AT THE RACES We organized a day at the track since so many guests had never experienced Saratoga before and who can't go to Saratoga without seeing a horse race! Tony, the band leader of Ten Most Wanted band, and his son, Carson, who do bugle calls at the race track came over to where we were sitting to serenade our guests with the song, "Sweet Caroline." A song that is played at Fenway Park during the 8th inning. A little over 40 guests joined us in the grandstand and their ticket was a gift from us.

SATURDAY: GOLF & DINNER Several guys played golf at Saratoga National and then Rehearsal Dinner at The Gideon Putnam Arches Room. It was a larger rehearsal dinner where we invited all extended family on both sides and then we had Welcome Drinks after to greet more out of town guests.

SUNDAY: WEDDING DAY Rob and I got ready at The Gideon Putnam. The guys played 9 holes at Saratoga Spa Golf Course. I rented the Sunroom at The Gideon for the girls to get ready and have breakfast & lunch. The room was stunning and the staff were beyond gracious.

MONDAY: POST WEDDING BRUNCH at The Gideon Putnam Arches Room - great way to say goodbye to guests.

TIES THAT BIND My dad passed away 15 years ago and I wanted to do something special to have him be part of my special day so I took the blue ribbon and pearl heart off of my mom's garter that she wore on her wedding day and had it sewn on the underlayer of my wedding dress.

COCKTAIL HOUR I am a middle school teacher so I had my students write marriage advice and I had their advice in frames that were showcased. We also had pictures of our engagement shoot and pictures of when we were young scattered during cocktail hour. Hand fans were provided for guests to take while they were on the portico and mocktails were included in our lineup of Signature Drinks so everyone could have a fun drink.

Before dancing began Rob and I thanked all of our guests for traveling near and far to celebrate our love and then I gave my bouquet to my mom. I had On from Surroundings Floral design my cascade bouquet to be similar to the one my mom carried on her wedding day.

My mom is 100% Italian so I asked the Ten Most Wanted to play "Lazy Mary" for her.

I had copies of a QR code in frames at the wedding and post wedding brunch so guests could share the pictures they took on their own device from the weekend with us.

Rob and I wrote notes to one another and purchased a special gift that we opened when we were getting ready the day of the wedding.

Rob and I made a list of family and friends that we wanted pictures with on our wedding day. Looking back now it is so nice to have these group photos and we have printed copies to share with family.

We had a basket of flip flops for women to change into so they could still dance without their feet hurting them.

Amid all the stress of wedding planning, don't lose sight of what the day is really about! Your day will be absolutely perfect because you are marrying your person and celebrating with all the people who love you the most in the world! The day flies by so make sure to take a few minutes with your partner to take it all in.

Like pulling a rabbit out of a hat, his last trick worked. It took three attempts, but Brad Reile finally locked in a date with Mary Warren. Dinner and a magic show at the McKittrick Hotel in New York City. It would be at least a three-hour commitment for a first meetup! Looking back now, the couple can agree it was a bold choice.

And so it began… Mary got dolled up in what Brad fondly remembers as a "fancy sport coat." Meanwhile, Brad took a steadying shot in the bar for liquid courage before heading to the table. They dined at an Argentinian restaurant where their table was romantically candlelit and nestled in a corner - perfectly setting the tone for the night. The atmosphere was enhanced by cocktails on the rooftop garden before heading into a speakeasy for the show.

From the moment they sat down, they settled into an easy connection that surprised them both. "I've never had anyone ask that many questions on a date," Mary recalls, knowing immediately that Brad was different. "Mary did all the talking in that cute southern accent," Brad thinks back - and anyone who knows this couple understands exactly who does all the talking, just as they know Brad can more than keep up. Their fun connection grew into something more romantic as the evening unfolded, and what was meant to be a three-hour first date stretched on late into the night. Mary and Brad found themselves flirting and drinking, thoroughly enjoying each other's company. At some point during the animated date, a magician came to their table for an up-close trick. Brad leaned back laughing and broke his chair, but his easy-going reaction to the embarrassing mishap only sealed the deal with Mary. It was a first date so perfect, it deserved to be a final act. After all, it would be their last first date. From there Mary and Brad would date for 6 years and even added a furry family member, Pippa! Some of the time was long distance due to Brad moving back to his hometown area during covid, but it was in 2022 when Brad convinced Mary to move to Saratoga! They got engaged in Aspen in 2024 on top of a beautiful mountain scene at the Maroon Bells. From there they have embraced this Saratoga community calling it home which made it the perfect backdrop scene of their 2025 Summer wedding. With friends and family joining in from all over the United States and the world -England, Germany, and Israel- for the occasion, it was a picture perfect magical weekend!

We hosted a day after event at the Saratoga Race Course on The Porch. 90% of our guests were from out of town so this was a real treat! They got the full Saratoga experience, and it was the perfect day after event to spend quality time with loved ones who traveled so far.

This was a surprise I planned for Brad, and it was such a fun way to end the wedding night! We whipped through Broadway with our photographer on cloud 9 after the night of our lives! We were dropped off at the Adelphi for our After Party.

This was one of my favorite little details of the day. We made newspapers as our ceremony programs and it was filled with stories on how we met, our bachelor and bachelorette parties, the history of the Casino, a crossword puzzle and more! We received so many compliments on them and my Maid of Honor wrote our "how we met/love story" which was so special.

AUDIO GUEST BOOK After The Tone -

We did an Audio Guest Book with a rotary phone, and we received a classic vinyl with a beautiful cover, the recordings AND email files! Hearing these for the first time after the wedding made me cry from overwhelming love and laughter. It's so special to hear our parents’ voices, and that will only become more precious as the years go on!

ESPRESSO MARTINI CONNOISSEUR

I’ve been rating espresso martinis online since 2019, and my guests knew that would be part of the fun! WE came out half-way through the reception, with my bridesmaids holding a club sign and trays of espresso martinis... it was silly and so much fun!

Instead of table numbers for our reception we named our tables after special places that meant something to us. i.e. Eiffel Table (romantic trip), Empire Table (NYC where we met), Maroon table (engagement), Saratoga (where we live!)... etc.

Our cake topper was vintage and I replaced the tulle skirt with scraps from my actual wedding dress after my dress was altered!

Plan as much as possible ahead of time so you can fully immerse yourself into your Wedding Day! Strive to be as present as possible and soak in the moment. Things will go wrong, items may not be in the exact spot you thought it would or the weather may stress you out, but I promise you one thing... the people who will be at your wedding will not notice and some mistakes could make the best and most memorable moments. Many people at our wedding reflected on how happy and over joyed I was the entire day. Looking back, it was the best day of my life!

We worked at Four Winds Hospital together in the same unit, though in different departments. We knew each other in the aspect of how our roles blended to form a team and spoke regarding patient care throughout the years of working together.

After a few years, we connected on a dating site after both getting out of relationships in June of 2021; there has not been a day since we have not spoken. We moved in together in 2022, and life has been a blast ever since we got together. After getting engaged in Lake George in 2024, we started wedding planning almost instantly.

Ronnie and I met one fateful night in Nashville at Jason Aldean’s Rooftop Bar. I was there on a girls’ trip celebrating my 30th birthday, while Ronnie was in town for his brother’s bachelor party. At the time, I was living in Plattsburgh, New York working as a Physician Assistant and Ronnie was in Baltimore, Maryland working in Real Estate/Finance. His dad and brother first struck up a conversation with me while we were listening to the band, and before long, they introduced Ronnie to me. The rest of the night felt effortless — we bar-hopped, danced, and talked for hours. At the end of the evening, he asked for my number, and from that day on, we talked every single day. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

After a year of long-distance dating, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Maryland. The following summer, we traveled to Spain and Portugal, and on June 23rd, 2024, Ronnie proposed at the top of Park Güell, overlooking the breathtaking city of Barcelona. It was a moment straight out of a dream. Although we live in Maryland, it meant so much to me to be married where my roots are — back in upstate New York. After visiting several venues, we fell in love with Saratoga National Golf Club.

Our wedding day was truly spectacular—without question, the best day of our lives. We are endlessly grateful to our families for helping bring our vision to life, especially my mom, Sue, who supported us every step of the way.

Ronnie’s brother Kevin was our officiant and married us. He nailed it!

Michelle and I met in Albany in August 2017 at a pickup volleyball game in Washington Park. We made an instant connection, laughing and joking in between games. After playing, we discussed our excitement for the upcoming Game of Thrones episode (Season 7 Finale) and made plans to watch it together the next day. The rest is history.

The next few years included a lot of change for us - Michelle finished her master’s at UAlbany and we both started new jobs, then came COVID. After spending what seemed like an eternity cooped up in our apartments, we decided we needed to get out and buy a house. We settled on a place in the Coldbrook neighborhood of Rotterdam and began making a home together. In January of 2024, I invited Michelle to meet me for dinner one Friday night after work at one of our favorite spots from our time in Albany - El Mariachi on Lark Street. I got there early and parked a block away in Washington Park and asked her to meet me there. When she arrived, we took a stroll through the park, passing right by the spot where we'd first met, some 6 years prior. I could think of no more fitting place to ask her to marry me, and when I dropped to my knee and pulled out the ring, after her initial shock, she accepted gleefully.

Over the next few months, we toured a number of wedding venues in the Capital District. All were lovely in their own right, but after taking a tour of The Saratoga Winery with Andrew, our search ended. It was exactly what we were looking for… a rustic, yet elegant space with plenty of indoor/outdoor space and good vibes all around. Annie and Andrew were friendly, helpful and accommodating and made the planning process a breeze.

Our wedding day was perfect and went off without a hitch. Our ceremony was out on the lawn on a beautiful August afternoon, followed by a cocktail hour in the restaurant space/patio and the reception in the Wine Barn. After dinner, we packed the back patio which served as our dance floor and danced the night away with our family and friends. Our DJ, HB Monte, kept the hits flowing all night and we could not have been more pleased with the atmosphere he cultivated. Our photographer, Carolyn Hammer, was amazing and captured all our special moments and excitement to perfection.

Matt and I met online, and within just a few weeks, we decided to meet in person for our first date. He arrived at my door with roses and a bottle of wine (he still does the small things) but my dog had other plans. The moment I opened the door, Tank bolted past us and took off down the street. Instead of a cozy evening, we spent hours circling my neighborhood, calling his name.

As the sun set, I kept thinking “surely he’s going want to reschedule.” But he stayed the whole time helping me look. Thankfully my neighbor appeared, walking down the street with Tank. Relieved and laughing, we got him safely home and finally started our real date.

We went to The Rustic Loft for drinks and food, a place that quickly became our go-to spot. What began as chaos turned into something meaningful. A few months in, we moved in together, building a life side by side. Soon after, we welcomed a beautiful baby girl who brought even more love into our world.

Matt proposed at a Jordan Davis concert during our song: "Next Thing You Know." A moment we’ll never forget. When planning our wedding, we dreamed of something simple, a garden ceremony and barn for dancing. We found exactly that at The Mansion of Saratoga.

On a beautiful August day surrounded by family and friends, we celebrated the perfect wedding, filled with love, laughter, and the beginning of our forever together.

• OUR STORY •

Adam and I met in Syracuse while I was working at the front desk of the school gym in PA (Physician Assistant) School. It was 2020 COVID times, when you had to sign in to use the limited number of open gym spaces and Adam was a medical student who always seemed to work out during my shifts. After weeks of small talk, he eventually asked me out and the rest is history!

Once he graduated from medical school in 2023, we moved to Portland, Maine for his residency training in urology and we still live there today. I got a job in cardiology in the same hospital, and we sometimes are lucky enough to run into each other for cafeteria lunch dates! He proposed at sunset on our local beach after a private dinner on Great Diamond Island with a diamond given to him by his grandmother.

While we love Maine, we wanted to come back home to New York for our wedding. I grew up in Rochester but always loved exploring the mountains and lakes while visiting Adam's family in Queensbury, making Lake George an obvious choice. We were married by Adam's childhood priest and celebrated with our closest family and friends at the Carriage house for the stunning views of the mountains and lake.

We had the most incredible day. The weather was absolutely perfect, our vendors kept the day flowing on schedule, and we somehow partied until 3 AM. I cannot be more thankful for my family and our vendors who handled everything for us, so we could truly live in the moment and enjoy our day together. I want to re-live our day again and again!

I wore the earrings my mother wore on her wedding day, and her wedding dress was turned into my getting ready robe.

We also did a "generations of love dance" where all eight of our still-married grandparents, our parents and us danced to "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis after our first dance.

GETTING CREATIVE

We had static window clings we designed on Canva for venue windows/mirrors.

We also designed on Canva and used a Circuit to make 50 shirts and did a T-shirt toss on our dance floor.

Prioritize picking vendors and members of your bridal party who are supportive and dedicated to letting you enjoy your day! You want to relax and enjoy your day and you can only do that if you have a supportive team handling the smaller details for you!

Eric and I grew up only 20 minutes from one another, me in Saratoga and him in Queensbury. In early February 2020 we finally met at Caroline Street Pub. We caught each other's eyes on the dance floor as live music played, and we danced until we were the last ones on that dance floor!

Our first date was a week later… Valentine’s Day in Saratoga… and we didn’t let COVID stop us after that, spending our time in the beautiful Adirondack mountains and going for lots of walks with our dogs in the Saratoga Spa State Park, falling more in love every step of the way.

In February 2024, while on a walk in the Saratoga Spa State Park with our two dogs, Eric pulled out from his jacket a beautiful leather-bound photo-album that he had put together of all four years of our relationship. He then knelt and I gave the quickest and easiest “Yes!” of my life.

Choosing a venue and location for our wedding was a no brainer for us. We knew it had to be in Saratoga and the Canfield Casino was the perfect spot to celebrate the beauty and history of the very special city we fell in love in, and will continue to be making memories in.

We had the most beautiful wedding day in the most beautiful city. We are incredibly grateful to our amazing vendors and to our ever-so-patient and loving parents for helping and supporting us every step of the way.

Megan of Mosca Alterations sewed into the bottom of my bridal gown, a fabric heart made from an article of my deceased grandmother's clothing with one of her crosses inside of it. My grandmother wanted more than anything to see me get married and this was a very special way to have her with me on my wedding day.

Early on in the reception, we had a special dance dedicated for dancing with our living grandparents to the song "What a Wonderful World" performed specially live by Funk Evolution.

LOVE IN SARATOGA

For our seating chart and table names, we created a board that said "Find Your Street to Find Your Seat" featuring prominent street names around the city of Saratoga Springs. We utilized Etsy to created mini street signs as part of our table centerpieces with these street names as an homage to the city we love.

WHITE-WINGED DOGS

Our dogs mean everything to us, and when it came time for the ring exchange, we had two of our groomsmen walk our two labrador retrievers down the aisle as our "Ring Bearers." They walked down the aisle to Stevie Nicks "Edge of Seventeen" as my oldest dog's name is in fact, Stevie Nicks. They were a huge hit and did such a great job!

PEANUT BUTTER TO MY JELLY ENTRANCE

To lead us back into the second portion of the reception and show off the bride's dress change, we danced back in to the song "Peanut Butter Jelly" by Galantis and threw out Uncrustable Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches to all our guests. We always have said to one another that "you are the peanut butter to my jelly" so this was a fun way to put a creative spin on that.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG

It can be easy to try and make decisions to please other people but remember, this is you and your partner's once in a lifetime day to celebrate your marriage. Every decision along the way should be what the both of you want. Certainly still listen to and appreciate all the advise you get along the way, but make sure that in the end, you both are happy with everything you are planning. Do the dance lessons, get the late night snacks and the Italian cookies you wanted to have for dessert, get that 2nd dress, order that unique decor from Etsy, and make it fun and personalized!

Miles and I met in the fall of 2015 at an athletics orientation at the University of Rochester. He had traveled from Florham Park, NJ, and I came from Ballston Spa, NY. We were both freshmen joining the swim team and majoring in biomedical engineering, and we immediately clicked, recognizing so many shared traits in each other.

On the very first day of our biomedical engineering class, the professor told us to start thinking about who we would want to partner with for the final project. Without hesitation, I leaned over to Miles and said, “Hey, want to be partners?” He said yes, and from that moment on, we have been inseparable.

Over the next four years, we studied, swam, and made countless memories together as our friendship grew into a loving relationship.

In 2023, Miles planned a fall weekend back in Ballston Spa and suggested we visit The Sagamore Hotel. While overlooking Lake George, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. After the proposal, my family was there waiting to celebrate, making it the perfect start to our wedding journey.

Today, we live in Hoboken, NJ, and both work in Manhattan. We love running, skiing out West, summers at the Jersey Shore, and visiting Rochester, the place where it all began.

Our wedding day was a reflection of everything we love, and we feel so grateful to have celebrated it with the people who mean the most to us.

ADVICE TO PASS ALONG

Never lose sight of the “why” behind your wedding day. For us, it was celebrating our love and the life we were building together with the people we love most, and of course, in the most fun way possible. When you keep your “why” at the center, it becomes much easier to sort through all the inspiration and ideas that can make planning feel overwhelming. The result is a beautiful, genuine, and love-filled event. Your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple. Honor what you love and what makes you you! Whether it’s certain foods, colors, or traditions, incorporating those personal touches into your day makes it feel even more special.

It was truly the best day of our lives, and the memories we get to carry with us made everything worth it.

Joe and I met our first week of optometry school in 2019 and were inseparable since. Through school, COVID, rotations in Tennessee, Florida and Pennsylvania our love grew more and more. After graduating from school, we took a trip to Utah with my family. It was there one evening at the most picturesque Airbnb as the sun was setting, that Joe got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was so special and intimate. We then moved to Saratoga Springs, our midway point from Long Island (where I am from) and Canandaigua (where Joe is from). As soon as we saw Saratoga for the first time, we instantly fell in love with it. It is such a special place for both of us and we knew it was where we wanted to get married. We wanted all our family and friends to experience Saratoga Springs, make a weekend out of it and grow to love it as we do. The Adelphi Hotel was the one and only venue we looked at, we knew it was the place. Joe is not only my husband but my best friend, we do everything together and love spending every moment side by side no matter what we’re doing. Our wedding day was the most perfect day spent with the most amazing people and we are so thankful to all our family, friends and vendors that made it all so special and wonderful. We feel so lucky looking back on our day.

A little backstory..Matt and my brother had been roommates for a semester at college in 2012. Matt grew up in Colonie and myself in Central NY. We were introduced to one another when Matt helped my mom, brother, and I move to the Capital Region. Our first encounters were primarily in large groups (lucky for us because we were shy and a little socially awkward), but often filled with flirtatious glances, banter, jokes, and of course friendly competition. My brother eventually encouraged us to see where this relationship could take us, giving us his stamp of approval. We connected, shared several dates getting to know each other. Finally, after a date at Cantina on an August night in 2014, our relationship became “official.”

We shared a long distance relationship while I continued my degree at college - frequently spending hours on the phone and traveling back and forth from school & home. Our relationship stayed strong. Eventually, we took the next step and moved in together, sharing a few apartments, making memories, and traveling. With our relationship continuing to mature and grow as we did – we grew our family with our beloved Australian Shepherd, Oakley, and bought a house. Marriage seemed like the next step, yet unexpectedly, on our favorite trip yet, Matt proposed (after 10 years together) on Rialto Beach in Olympic National Park in Washington State at sunset. Although Cantina moved locations in Downtown Saratoga, it seemed extremely fitting, and a full circle moment, to return to where our relationship became official 11 years later, to host our intimate wedding ceremony and reception. My brother, who initially connected us, officiated our wedding, which was truly special to us both. Hosting our wedding at the 408 Event and Occasion seemed serendipitous, and the aesthetic and design of the venue coupled with their amazing team made the decision that much easier. A fall wedding is what we always dreamed of and the weather was stunning for an October day! We could not have asked for a better space to celebrate and commemorate our marriage with our closest friends and family. We are so thankful for the vendors and teams who made our day extra special and unforgettable.

My brother, Michael, who was friends with Matt prior to our relationship, married us on the day of. It was fitting as he was the one who encouraged us to explore our relationship, giving us his stamp of approval. He is a teacher and asked his middle school students to provide advice to the newlyweds and some of these were used in his speech bringing a wonderful personal touch to the ceremony.

I am known for my puns and Matt is a big time Philadelphia Eagles fan so our signature drinks portrayed us accurately.
