President's Report

It is with great pleasure that I present my annual report as President of the Santa Gertrudis Breeders’ (Association) Australia, in this our 70th year of reporting.

The annual calendar began with strong attendance at the Judging School in July. Special thanks to the Baillieu and Myer families plus the team at Yulgilbar for hosting this wonderful learning opportunity for members.

The Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) was again strongly supported by members in the Stud Cattle section. Congratulations to the Hatton family with Santahat Ultimate U300 taking out Grand Champion Bull and the Bassingthwaighte Family winning Grand Champion Female with Yarrawonga Marshmallow T671.

Following judging it was wonderful to see such a good turnout of members and friends to attend the post judging drink’s function. A delightful evening of celebration included the announcement of Eleni Fogden, Nangaringa Stud as the 2025 RJ Kleberg Scholarship winner, the trophy being presented by King Kleberg of King Ranch, Texas. Kaylene Mann was given special recognition by attendees for her years of dedicated service to the breed in the leadup to her retirement.

At the well-attended Annual General Meeting (AGM) special presentations were made to retiring Councillors Mark Bolster, Scott Ferguson, David Bassingthwaighte and Brett Ellem. Ian Walker was announced as the Breed’s new Patron, taking over from George Dent. The Eddie Hackman Steer Trophy for the Most Successful Exhibitor of Santa Gertrudis Commercial Cattle throughout Australia in 2024 was presented to Peter Mahony of Gyranda Stud.

Council met following the AGM and welcomed new Councillors Thomas Fogden, Bevan Pearce, Craig Ross and Maggie Welsh for their first meeting.

In late August, SGB(A)A attended the MLA Northern Genetics Field Day at Spyglass Beef Research Facility to hear updates on the Repronomics Project which aims to genetically improve female reproduction of three tropical beef breeds in northern Australia. We thank Santa Gertrudis collaborator herds Cree, Dangarfield, Greenup Eidsvold, Gyranda, Rosevale and Rowanlea that provide females for the project and other members who have provided semen for the AI programs.

From late August onwards we moved into a major part of the bull selling season. Three new sales were added to the calendar in 2025/26 with the Talgai online production sale in September, the Moura Invitational Sale in October and the Combined WA Bull Sale in April. Congratulations to Rick and Alice Greenup of Greenup Eidsvold Stud for the highest selling bull of 2025, the $120,000 Greenup Apollo V222 (PP) selling to Andrew Bassingthwaighte of Yarrawonga Stud.

By the end of the year Santa Gertrudis had the equal highest clearance rate of any breed in 2025 at 92%, and more pleasingly the second highest breed sale average of $11,987, second only to Wagyu. I commend our members for the high standards of cattle presented. More bulls sold and a higher average reaffirms strong and consistent demand for our cattle.

In September we farewelled Kaylene Mann as she retired after 32 years of loyal and exceptional service to our breed and its members. Tributes were conveyed to Kaylene at a special dinner with former presidents in November, many penning heartfelt wishes to the profound influence she had on the Association and members.

The New Year started on a very busy note with 132 students registered for the National Youth camp at Warwick. We salute Dennis Moxey, Thomas Fogden, Lachie Martin, Sam Falls and the amazing team of Group Leaders who support, mentored and supported our students this year.

A packed program of practical and technical sessions ensured everyone walked away with new skills and new friends.

On the youth front we are thrilled to support our young members with leadership development opportunities such as the Roma Young Beef Producers Forum, the Marcus Oldham Rural Leadership Scholarship and the Inter Collegiate Meat Judging Conference in Rockhampton - all made possible through the generosity of our members. I am so proud of our young members and their capacity to step up and contribute.

In February, Council and Field Directors met for a Standards Day. This day is an important procedure to ensure the Standard of Excellence is maintained and that Council and Field Directors are all on the same page regarding maintenance of this Standard of Excellence. Council added a new disqualification rule for extremely short tail.

Santa Gertrudis featured prominently in the Champion of the Word Competition. Judged by an international panel, this competition showcases the finest genetics and breeding achievements from across the globe. Santahat Ultimate U300 was proclaimed Santa Gertrudis Champion Bull of Asia/ Africa/Oceania and then went on to win Champion of the World. Yarrawonga Marshmallow T671 also won Santa Gertrudis Champion Female of Asia/ Africa/Oceania and then came runner-up Champion of the World.

The new rule for animals born after 1 July 2025 requiring their sire to be HDK50 tested has now been in effect for a year. I thank members for their efforts to comply with this new rule. As a side note I am delighted to say that since 2020, DNA testing by our members has increased by a whopping 952% (albeit from a small base).

In late May over 400 head of cattle entered Freestone Feedlot at Warwick, Qld for a Santa Gertrudis weight gain and carcase trial. We sincerely thank agents Bartholomew & Co, Freestone Feedlot and Teys Australia for their support of this trial and look forward to the results later in the year.

On the technical front, Council has commenced working with AGBU in the provision of data to improve and evaluate imputation accuracy, haplotype diversity, and genomic prediction accuracy in Australian beef cattle populations. We are also consulting with other northern breed associations with regards to a potential Northern Genetics Project which aims to increase adoption of BEEDPLAN, genomic tools and genetic decision support systems to drive faster and more accurate genetic improvement.

Council has been focused through the year on policy, procedure and corporate governance. Special thanks to General Manager Brad Cooper for his help in driving change to ensure we meet

our Corporate Governance obligations and ensure the Association is in a sound financial position. Special mention also to Treasurer Louise Prentice for all the work she does to ensure the money you pay as members is used wisely.

Following the underperformance of our investment manager, tenders were issued to explore alternative portfolio management options. In addition, Council set policy to establish performance expectations, risk parameters, reporting and accountability to support prudent stewardship of member funds.

Staff and Council have also completed the Financial Procedures Policy. These policies ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with governance standards and the safeguarding of organisational assets.

On a sad not note we have lost several people from the breed, including past president Rod Murchison We offer our deepest sympathies, as we do to all of those who have lost family and friends close to them.

By the time the Annual Report is published, the election of Council will have been conducted and at least one new member will have been elected to Council following the retirement of Michael Doering, after 20 years on Council. I would like to pay tribute to Michael for his selfless service and unwavering commitment to our breed. On a personal note, Michael has been a great pillar of support and an exceptional mentor as I navigated my tenure as President. His willingness to share knowledge and offer guidance has been invaluable in fostering the growth and confidence not only of myself, but our new Councillors too.

Thank you to our amazing Association staff. Whilst small in number, they continuously go above and beyond the call of duty. An incredible group of passionate and experienced people who work together as a team to attain amazing results to support you and our breed.

Your Council works in a voluntary capacity and time on Council business is at the expense of one’s own business - thank you, ladies and gentlemen of Council, for your dedication and service to our breed.

Fees. With Beef Australia and World Congress coming up next year your contribution will play a vital role in showcasing and strengthening our breed at these key events.

Congratulations and thank you to all those who exhibited at the Theodore Feature and Queensland, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Toowoomba Royal Shows. The Association greatly appreciates the huge effort, and expense members undertake to display their own cattle (and the breed), at local shows, field days and sales all around the country. With Santa Gertrudis regularly topping sales and winning classes at local shows and sales, members’ efforts to promote the breed ensures Santa Gertrudis is always on display and always seen in the media.

It has been a fluctuating year on the cattle market and even more fluctuating on the mother nature front with members experiencing damaging record rain, flooding, fires and drought. And to top it all off, high costs of, and shortages of diesel and fertiliser. As usual, we must ride out the highs and lows of cattle production.

Yet, whatever the market and mother nature throws at us, rest assured demand for Santa Gertrudis will always remain.

The consistency of our breed’s clearance rate is not just in the stud selling ring but also in the paddock. Another standout 2025/26 on AuctionsPlus has seen Santa Gertrudis achieve a clearance rate of 89%, against all breeds at 81%.

The national Beef Producer Intentions Survey (BPIS) results point to a major lift in Santa Gertrudis cattle across Australia’s breeding female herd between 2023 and 2025, with the breed recording one of the clearest growth stories in the survey data. In share terms, Santa Gertrudis lifted from an estimated 3.8 per cent of the national breeding female herd in 2023 to 9.6 per cent in 2025. That makes Santa Gertrudis one of the standout breed movers over the period.

The financial year just concluded has delivered a strong result for the Association, with an overall operational profit of $236,516.

The Australian cattle industry remains strong, with projections indicating peak supply, record production, and historically high slaughter rates. While producers have faced challenges from rising fuel costs and poor seasonal conditions in the southern regions, these pressures have recently eased. Overall industry confidence and expectations remain above long-term averages.

I am pleased to report that the financial systems review has now been fully implemented. All policies and procedures are documented, resulting in a more streamlined and timely process. MGI continues to manage payroll, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and end-of-month reporting efficiently.

Key Matters

1. National Junior Show

Another highly successful National Junior Show was held, achieving record participation numbers. Traditionally, a major financial contribution to Youth Camp comes from member donations of semen for auction. This year, semen sale revenue decreased by $10,500 to $25,500, combined with increased expenses, resulting in a small operational loss of $1887 compared to last year’s profit of $20,798.

An area for consideration is the rising cost of catering, and whether a structured fee for additional adult attendees should replace the current voluntary donation system.

2. Promotional Levy and Industry Activity

The 2025/2026 financial year saw an increase in promotional levy receipts, with improved processes ensuring alignment with members’ contributions within the reporting period. I thank you for your contributions. Publicity fee income totalled $364,932, representing a 13.19% increase from the previous year.

This positive outcome supports future planning, particularly for major upcoming events including Beef Australia (May 2027), the World Congress, and the

celebration of 75 years of the breed in Australia in Brisbane (August 2027). The Association remains committed to ensuring members’ contributions are used effectively and maximising the value of these funds.

3. Core Business Performance

The Association’s core activities showed steady growth:

• Progeny registrations increased by 9.8%

• Classification activity rose by 9.5%, likely reflecting recovery from weather-related delays in the previous year

• Transfers increased significantly by 28.2%

Membership

Total membership stands at 544, down from 570 the previous year, representing a 4.5% decline. Ordinary membership decreased slightly from 292 to 285. This level of attrition remains within acceptable benchmarks (below 10%) for member-based organisations.

Investments

The Council has continued its strategy of diversifying investments. Following a comprehensive review and tender process, Vincents Advisory has been appointed as the Association’s portfolio manager. The transition is now complete, with investments held through Morgans Financial Limited and managed by Vincents.

Investment income increased by 23.2%, contributing $78,564 compared to $63,763 in the previous year.

Outlook

With several major events ahead, the Association is well positioned to showcase the breed on both national and international stages. The ongoing policy of modest, incremental fee increases remains in place to support sustainable growth.

The Association remains in a sound financial position, as reflected in the published accounts. The Council remains committed to responsible financial stewardship and delivering value to members.

‘Honouring our past, advancing our future’

The 2025–26 financial year has been one of continued growth, consolidation and purposeful investment in the future of the Santa Gertrudis Breeders’ (Australia) Association.

While growth in membership engagement, market interest and breed awareness remains important, much of our focus this year has centred on creating stronger scaffolding around our operations to build greater resilience and sustainability in the areas most critical to our business.

This work is especially important as we prepare for what will be a landmark period in the Association’s history. In 2027, we will celebrate our Jubilee 75th year, coinciding with two extraordinary opportunities to showcase Santa Gertrudis on both a national and international stage.

Beef 2027, to be held in Rockhampton in May, and the Santa Gertrudis World Congress in August will place our breed, our members and our Association in the spotlight. These events provide enormous opportunities to elevate the profile of Santa Gertrudis cattle and strengthen the position of our Association well into the future.

While significant planning is already under way, there is still much work to be done. I encourage all members to become involved in whatever way they can. Whether it's contributing ideas for event activities, identifying sponsorship opportunities, volunteering your time, assisting with marketing initiatives or simply helping us spread the word, there is a role for everyone. The success of these events will be shaped by the collective energy and enthusiasm of our membership.

Importantly, I want members to remember that they remain the most effective advocates for our breed and our brand. There is no marketing tool more powerful than a breeder speaking confidently and passionately about their own experience.

If you enjoy being part of our community and take pride in what we achieve together, share that story. Equally, if there are areas where you believe we can improve, tell us. Feedback, whether positive or constructive, helps us build a stronger organisation.

As an Association, we are acutely aware of the responsibility we carry in contributing to the success of our members' businesses. We take that responsibility seriously. There are few breed societies in Australia that engage so deeply in the day-to-day operations of their membership.

From classification and animal registration through to the management of publicity funds invested on members' behalf to promote the Santa Gertrudis brand, we remain accountable for delivering value and outcomes. Our success is ultimately your success.

On behalf of the Association, I thank our members for continuing to breed the high-quality Santa Gertrudis genetics that underpin everything we do. The marketing promises we make can only be fulfilled because of the quality cattle being produced by our stud and commercial breeders across Australia.

Evidence of this is clearly visible in the market data featured in the August 2026 edition of the Santa Journal. Data sourced from MLA and AuctionsPlus demonstrates the strength of demand for Santa Gertrudis cattle and validates what many of us have been observing firsthand for some time.

There is genuine appetite for Santa Gertrudis genetics in both stud and commercial sectors. Throughout the year we have witnessed growing buyer activity in Western Australia, continued strength across northern markets and increasing interest from producers seeking productive, adaptable cattle capable of performing in diverse environments.

In the online world, traffic to our website remains strong, our digital engagement continues to grow, and we are rapidly approaching 11,000 followers on Facebook.

These indicators combine to illustrate increasing awareness and interest in the breed, and they provide confidence that our marketing efforts are reaching the right audiences.

This growing demand is also shaping the way we approach breed promotion. While the stud seedstock market remains critical, we have deliberately expanded our focus this year to engage more directly with commercial producers.

Increasingly, producers with British and Europeanbased herds are looking for practical solutions that enhance productivity, improve feed efficiency, increase weight gain and maintain market flexibility. Santa Gertrudis cattle continue to demonstrate their value in these systems.

Ongoing success in feedlot trials, including the current trial at Freestone Feedlot in Warwick organised by Bartholomew & Co, Beaudesert, together with the strong results achieved by Santa Gertrudis breeders in carcase competitions, continues to strengthen the breed’s reputation as Australia’s premier beef animal. These outcomes reinforce Santa Gertrudis as a breed that consistently delivers productivity and profitability across a wide range of conditions and markets.

This buyer sentiment aligns with a consistent theme in our marketing strategy: Santa Gertrudis is the genuine breed for all Australian environments. Whether producers operate in northern rangelands, central pastoral regions or southern grazing country, Santa Gertrudis cattle offer a lowmaintenance, low-risk option capable of delivering high rewards. Improvements in MSA compliance, strong saleable meat yield and favourable market returns continue to reinforce the breed's reputation.

The cents-per-kilogram results being achieved by Santa Gertrudis cattle across both northern and southern markets provide measurable evidence that the breed is well positioned to meet the needs of today's commercial beef industry.

None of this would be possible without our members and the dedication of our staff.

I would like to recognise our Field Directors, Russell Smyth and Russell Yeates. Working in tandem like a well-oiled machine, Russell Smyth and Russell Yeates continue to provide classification services, technical advice and practical support that help members breed better cattle with every generation.

Their commitment to maintaining breed standards as set by Council plays a critical role in ensuring Santa Gertrudis cattle remain structurally sound, commercially relevant and market ready. The increasing uptake of Santa Gertrudis genetics highlights the value of their work and the long-term importance of maintaining consistency and integrity within our breed.

I would like to acknowledge Wendy James in her role as Member Support Coordinator. Wendy has become an invaluable resource for our members, coordinating events, assisting with advertising, managing merchandise fulfilment and continually seeking new ways to enhance the membership experience. Her commitment to service and member engagement is greatly appreciated.

While the Association continues to enjoy a growth trajectory, the past 12 months have also brought significant organisational change. A little over 12 months ago, we transitioned the management of our financial services to an outsourced provider as part of our broader strategy to strengthen operational resilience. More recently, and just prior to the close of the financial year, we were required to make a similar transition with our Registrar function following the sudden departure of a staff member.

These changes have not been without challenges, and I sincerely thank members for their patience and understanding as we have worked through, and continue to address, some inevitable teething issues on the Registrar desk.

As we review these arrangements, we remain open-minded about how key functions should be delivered into the future. The seedstock industry is evolving rapidly, driven by advances in technology,

changing expectations and new opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery to the producer and ultimately the beef consumer.

Our focus is not on simply preserving processes because they have always existed. Instead, we want to remain curious, adaptable and willing to explore what new technologies and operating models may offer.

The theme for next year's World Congress, "Honouring our Past, Advancing our Future," is a fitting reflection of how we intend to approach the business of the Association. We have a proud history, but we also have an obligation to build a stronger, more capable organisation that will serve future generations of Santa Gertrudis breeders.

That future is already taking shape through the outstanding young people emerging within our Association.

It is immensely encouraging to see the next generation stepping into leadership roles and increasing their visibility across our programs and events.

I would particularly like to acknowledge Lachie Martin and Sam Falls, along with our dedicated Youth Camp group leaders, the members of this year's inaugural ICMJ team, the young people who staffed the Santa site at the Young Beef Producers Forum at Roma and our Marcus Oldham scholar and our youngest-ever Councillor, Thomas Fogden Their enthusiasm, leadership and willingness to contribute speak volumes about the future of our breed.

Congratulations also to former Kleberg Scholar Mia Doering on her selection into the prestigious ranch management program delivered by Texas A&M University in the United States. This is a remarkable achievement and a testament to both her capability and commitment to the beef industry.

Finally, I would like to recognise Eleni Fogden, who embraced the opportunity of the Kleberg Scholarship and elevated it to an even bigger stage, creating a benchmark that future scholars will aspire to follow.

To conclude, I extend my sincere thanks to President Liz Allen and the Council for their ongoing guidance, support and commitment to the Association.

I would also like to acknowledge Michael Doering, who was President at the time of my appointment as General Manager in 2024. As Michael retires from Council following 20 years of dedicated service, we thank him for his significant contribution to the SGB(A)A. His experience, wisdom and counsel have been instrumental in shaping the Association, and his insights will be greatly missed.

As we look ahead to a historic year for Santa Gertrudis in Australia, there is much to be optimistic about. Our breed is in demand, our membership is engaged, our foundations are strengthening and our future opportunities are significant.

Together, by honouring our past and advancing our future through embracing innovation, we can ensure Santa Gertrudis remains one of Australia's most relevant, respected and successful beef breeds for generations to come.

A YEAR OF SANTA GERTRUDIS

With a Feature Breed Show at Theodore and topping sale averages and clearances in the auction rings, Santa Gertrudis has enjoyed another stellar 12 months.

Here’s a look back at the highlights:

July 2025

A new generation of cattle breeders and industry leaders gathered at Yulgilbar Station, Baryulgil, NSW, from 4-6 July for the revived Santa Gertrudis Judging School. The intensive program combined practical demonstrations and hands-on judging of bulls, females and steers.

The breed's historic connection with its Texas origins was celebrated through a two-month Australian study tour by King Ranch representatives King Kleberg and Kolton Grigg. During July, the pair visited Santa Gertrudis operations across Queensland and northern New South Wales, learning firsthand how Australian breeders are utilising and advancing Santa genetics in commercial and stud herds.

July also saw the launch of a new Santa Gertrudis television advertising campaign across regional audiences. Designed to showcase the

breed's adaptability, temperament, efficiency and profitability, the campaign positioned Santa Gertrudis cattle as a practical solution for modern beef producers.

Santa Gertrudis stud and commercial breeders win big at the Callide Dawson and Central Queensland Carcase Competitions.

Jason Wolff, Canowindra stud, Emerald steps up to judge Santa Gertrudis at the Ekka, assessing Santahat Ultimate U300 as Grand Champion Bull and Yarrawonga Marshmallow as Grand Champion Female.

Eleni Fogden, Loxton, South Australia is named as the 2025 RJ Kleberg Scholarship recipient, earning the right to be the Breed Ambassador for the next 12 months.

Bull sales wrap-up for the year, with Santa Gertrudis topping the sale average for conventional breeds at $11,987 and equalling the top clearance of 92% at a gross of $29,829,969.

Straws from six powerhouse Santa Gertrudis bulls are confirmed for the Youth Camp Auction, which ultimately raises $30,720.

Santa Gertrudis studmasters Brett Hatton, Santahat stud, Monto, Qld and Andrew Bassingthwaighte, Yarrawonga stud, Wallumbilla, Qld lay claim to champion of the world status after impressive wins in a worldwide competition held online. The two grand champions of the Royal Queensland Show’s Santa Gertrudis ring backed up their Ekka performance in fine style.

The hot Santa pie that wowed showgoers in 2025 returns to Olympic Park with a bigger brand presence to match its growing profile. The Mighty Santa pie, featuring genuine Santa Gertrudis beef thanks to Nolan Meats, Gympie, Qld, goes on sale for the duration of the Royal Sydney Easter Show.

Denngal Viking and Nangaringa Viktoria are crowned Grand Champion Bull and Female respectively at the Royal Sydney Easter Show

Santa infused steers entered by Maidenwell beef producer Neil Johnston were named Champion Pen from the hundreds yarded at the Coolabunia Weaner Show and Sale, hosted by Aussie Land & Livestock near Kingaroy.

A new accolade honouring the life, legacy and immense contribution of Alastair Bassingthwaighte is declared open for submissions in a bid to find the 2025 Stud Led Exhibitor of the Year. The inaugural Alastair Bassingthwaighte Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the exhibitor who accumulates the most points in the stud led show ring during the 2025 calendar year.

More than 140 head of stud led, stud unled and prime cattle present for the Santa Gertrudis Feature Show at Theodore. Diamond H, Wandoan produces the double of Grand Champion Bull and Female.

Santa Gertrudis and Santa x cattle from the operation of Yulgilbar in northern NSW under the management of Brett Ellem prove dominant in the Royal Sydney Beef Challenge, winning eight classes.

June 2026

Santa Gertrudis is back at FarmFest, Kingsthorpe, showcasing quality cattle and the strength of the breed. Cattle on display are presented by John McCarthy, Rosehill, Clifton and Jonathan Maskall, Homeleigh, Millmerran, alongside an Association display.

Santa Gertrudis cattle in the Bartholomew & Co feedlot trial (Beaudesert) are currently performing strongly at Freestone Feedlot, Warwick, reported to be in excellent condition and progressing well.

Gertrudis Breeders' (Australia) Association

It’s been an interesting 12 months for our membership.

Once again seasonal conditions have made life interesting with rain falls postponing visits in some areas and ongoing dry conditions in New South Wales has seen record numbers of commercial females sold off.

Our thoughts go out to members who has been impacted with the prolonged dry conditions.

Extreme weather patterns aside, it’s a great time to be in the beef industry.

Strong demand is always there for quality cattle and once again over the last 12 months we have seen Santa Gertrudis cattle topping market categories weekly right across the country and featuring in many sale reports through media publications.

Conversations with commercial producers throughout the 2025 bull selling season and in Western Australia and the Northern Territory recently, some said they have made the shift away from other Bos Indicus and Bos Taurus breeds and have introduced Santa Gertrudis into their breeding programs.

All said that they were chasing cattle with more eye appeal which helped with better market accessibility and compliance, higher daily weight gains and carcase weights.

Many were also purchasing bulls that had been classified because they had been through an independent breed verified assessment. They were also operating on the top end of the bulls as well which has helped push our sale averages up.

We have seen some good cattle on our classification travels this year and some exciting young cattle prospects being selected in preparation for Beef 2027 and the Santa Gertrudis World Congress next year.

These events will be a great opportunity to showcase and promote our breed on a world stage. If you have the capacity to do so we encourage all members to support and take part in these events.

Unfortunately, we have seen a couple of cases in our 2026 visits where members have purchased cattle in good faith only to discover that they are not eligible for classification for several different reasons.

This has been extremely disappointing to hear. It undermines the integrity of our breed and the systems we have in place.

We want to see our great breed moving forward and continue to grow. For any members looking to purchase cattle prior to being classified please contact either one of us in the first instance before you do.

The President's Challenge Trophy is an Eddie Hackman sculptured bronze bull and an attendant, mounted on timber. It is to be awarded to the Grand Champion Bull at the Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide Royal Shows being competed for at those shows on alternative years. The trophy is a perpetual trophy.

Alastair Bassingthwaighte Memorial Trophy

Principal Activities

The principal activities of the Company in the course of the financial year, were to maintain the purity of the breed of cattle known as Santa Gertrudis and to improve and develop the type and characteristics of that breed throughout Australia.

Review of Operations

The net amount of surplus / (deficit) of the Company for the year, after extraordinary items, was:-

During the financial year, there was no significant change in the state of affairs of the Company, other than that referred to in the accounts or notes there to.

Subsequent Events

There has not been any matter or circumstance, other than that referred to in the accounts or notes thereto, that has arisen since the end of the financial year, that has significantly affected, or may significantly affect, the operations of the Company, the results of those operations, or the state of affairs of the Company in financial years subsequent to this financial year.

Future Developments

In the opinion of the Councillors, there are no future likely developments in the operations of the Company that would affect the expected results of those operations in subsequent financial years.

Councillors' Remuneration

During or since the financial year, no Councillor has received or become entitled to receive a benefit (other than a benefit included in the aggregate amount of emoluments received or due and receivable by Councillors shown in the accounts, or the fixed salary of a full-time employee of the Company or a related corporation), by reason of a contract made by the Company or a related corporation with a Councillor, or with a firm of which he is a member, or with an Association in which he has a substantial financial interest, with the exception of amounts disclosed in Note 10.

Indemnifying Officer or Auditor

The Company has not, during or since the financial year, in respect of any person who is, or has been, an officer or auditor of the Company or of a related body corporate:

indemnified, or made any relevant agreement for indemnifying against a liability incurred as an officer or auditor, including costs and expenses in successfully defending legal proceedings;

paid, or agreed to pay, a premium in respect of a contract insuring against a liability incurred as an officer or auditor for the costs or expenses to defend legal proceedings;

with the exception that a Councillors’ and Officers’ Liability Policy and an Association Liability Professional Indemnity policy for Councillors and officers, are in place with Lloyds of London Insurance, the total of these premiums being $3,716.

Dividends Paid or Recommended

No dividends were paid or recommended during the financial year as the Company’s Constitution prohibit dividends.

Environmental Issues

The Company’s operations are not regulated by any significant environmental regulation, under a law of the Commonwealth or of a State or Territory.

Proceedings on Behalf of Company

No person has applied for leave of Court to bring proceedings on behalf of the Company or intervene in any proceedings to which the Company is a party for the purpose of taking responsibility on behalf of the Company for all or any part of those proceedings.

The Company was not a party to any such proceedings during the year.

A copy of the Auditor's Independence Declaration as required under section 307C of the Corporations Act 2001 , is set out on Page 5.

The financial statements cover the Santa Gertrudis Breeders' (Australia) Association Ltd as an individual entity, incorporated and domiciled in Australia. The Santa Gertrudis Breeders' (Australia) Association Ltd is a Company Limited by Guarantee.

The financial statements were authorised for issue on 17th July, 2026 by the Councillors of the Association.

Note 1: Summary of Significant Accounting Policies

The Councillors have prepared the financial statements on the basis that the Company is a non-reporting entity because there are no users who are dependent on its General Purpose Financial Statements. These financial statements are therefore Special Purpose Financial Statements that have been prepared in order to meet the requirements of the Corporations Act 2001. The Company is a not-for-profit entity for the financial reporting purposes under Australian Accounting Standards.

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the mandatory Australian Accounting Standards applicable to entities reporting under the Corporations Act 2001 and the significant accounting policies disclosed below, which the Councillors have determined are appropriate to meet the needs of members. Such accounting policies are consistent with the previous period unless stated otherwise.

The financial statements, except for the cash flow information, have been prepared on an accruals basis and are based on historical costs unless otherwise stated in the notes. Material accounting polices adopted in the preparation of these financial statements are presented below and have been consistently applied unless otherwise. The amounts presented in the financial statements have been rounded to the nearest dollar.

Accounting Policies

(a) Investments

Shares in listed companies held as investment assets are shown at market value. Accordingly, the unrealised gain or loss has been brought to account through the asset revaluation reserve.

Dividends and other distributions from investments are taken to income on a receivable basis.

Units in managed funds are shown at market value. Accordingly, unrealised gains or losses have been brought to account through asset revaluation reserve.

(b) Property, Plant and Equipment

Each class of property and equipment is carried at cost or fair value less, where applicable, any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses.

Property

Freehold land and buildings are measured at cost in the accounts. A valuation was prepared in June, 2026 to determine fair value, being the amount for which an asset could be exchanged between knowledgeable willing parties in an arm’s length transaction. It is policy to engage an independent valuation when determined by Councillors, otherwise an annual appraisal is made by the Councillors.

Any accumulated depreciation at the date of revaluation is eliminated against the gross carrying amount of the asset and the net amount is restated to the revalued amount of the asset.

Any revaluation of freehold land and buildings has not taken account of the potential capital gains tax on assets acquired after the introduction of capital gains tax as the Company is exempt from tax - refer note 1(e).

Plant and equipment are measured on the cost basis.

The carrying amount of property, plant and equipment is reviewed annually by Councillors to ensure it is not in excess of the recoverable amount from those assets. The recoverable amount is assessed on the basis of the expected net cash flows that will be received from the asset’s employment and subsequent disposal. The expected net cash flows have not been discounted to their present values in determining recoverable amounts.

The cost of fixed assets constructed within the Company includes the costs of materials, direct labour, borrowing costs and an appropriate proportion of fixed and variable overheads.

Subsequent costs are included in the asset’s carrying amount or recognised as a separate asset, as appropriate, only when it is probable that future economic benefits associated with the item will flow to the group and the cost of the item can be measured reliably. All other repairs and maintenance are charged to the income statement during the financial period in which they are incurred.

(c) Depreciation

The depreciable amount of all fixed assets including building and capitalised lease assets, but excluding freehold land, is depreciated on a straight-line basis over their useful lives to the Company commencing from the time the asset is held ready for use.

(e) Income Tax

No provision for income tax has been raised, as the entity is exempt from income tax under Division 50 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

(f) Members’ Liability

The Association is a Company limited by guarantee. If the Company is wound up, the Articles of Association state that each member is required to contribute a maximum of $20 each towards meeting any outstanding obligations of the Company. At 30 June, 2026, the number of financial members was 544.

(g) Employee Entitlements

Provision is made for the Association's liability for employee entitlements arising from services rendered by employees to balance date. Employee entitlements expected to be settled within one year together with entitlements arising from wages and salaries and annual leave which will be settled after one year, have been measured at their nominal amount.

(h) Cash

For the purposes of the statement of cash flows, cash includes:

(i) cash on hand and at call deposits with banks or financial institutions, net of bank overdrafts; and

(ii) investments in money market instruments with less than 14 days to maturity.

(i) Revenue

Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised upon the delivery of goods to consumers.

Interest revenue is recognised on a proportional basis taking into account the interest rates applicable to the financial assets.

Revenue from the rendering of a service is recognised upon the delivery of the service to the customers.

Membership income is recognised as revenue in the year to which membership relates.

Dividend income is recognised in the year that the dividend is declared and paid.

All revenue is stated net of the amount of goods and services tax (GST).

(j) Goods and Services Tax (GST)

Revenues, expenses and assets are recognised net of the amount of GST, except where the amount of GST incurred is not recoverable from the Australian Taxation Office. In these circumstances the GST is recognized as part of the cost of acquisition of the asset or as part of an item of the expense. Receivables and payables in the statement of financial position are shown inclusive of GST.

This was carried out by the Councillors with the assistance of Raine & Horne Commercial Brisbane North, on the 30th June, 2026. This has resulted in a valuation of the property of $1,400,000 to $1,500,000. The property is recorded at cost in the financial report.

Report on the Financial Report Basis for Opinion

We conducted our audit in accordance with Australian Auditing Standards. Our responsibilities under those standards are further described in the Auditor's Responsibilities for the Audit of the Financial Report section of our report. We are independent of the Company in accordance with the ethical requirements of the Accounting Professional and Ethical Standards Board's APES 110: Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (the Code) that are relevant to our audit of the Financial Report in Australia. Emphasis of Matter - Basis of Accounting

Without modifying our opinion, we draw attention to the Note 1 of the Financial Report, which describes the basis of accounting. The Financial Report has been prepared by the Councillors to satisfy the requirements of the Company's constitution and to meet the needs of members. As a result, the Financial Report may not be suitable for another purpose.

Councillors' Responsibility for the Financial Report

The Councillors of the Company are responsible for the preparation of the Financial Report that gives a true and fair view and have determined that the basis of preparation described in Note 1 to the Financial Report is appropriate to meet the requirements of the constitution and the needs of the members. The Councillors' responsibility also includes such internal control as the Councillors determine is necessary to enable the preparation of a Financial Report that gives a true and fair view and is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error.

In preparing the Financial Report, the Councillors are responsible for assessing the Company's ability to continue as a going concern, disclosing, as applicable, matters relating to going concern and using the going concern basis of accounting unless the Councillors either intend to liquidate the Company or to cease operations, or have no realistic alternative but to do so.

Auditors' Responsibility

Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the Financial Report as a whole is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor's report that includes our opinion. Identify and assess the risks of material misstatement of the Financial Report, whether due to fraud or error, design and perform audit procedures responsive to those risks, and obtain audit evidence that is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion. The risk of not detecting a material misstatement resulting from fraud is higher than for one resulting from error, as fraud may involve collusion, forgery, intention omissions, misrepresentations, or the override of internal control.

Our conclusions are based on the audit evidence obtained up to the date of our auditors' report. However, future events or conditions may cause the company to cease to continue as a going concern.
