Dear Watsonville: Recording our Family Histories Grades: K-12 -BACKGROUNDDear Watsonville is a mixed-media short film that commemorates the first Filipino farm workers to settle in the Pajaro Valley during the 1930s. Filmmaker Sandra Lucille combines photographs, oral history interviews and original illustrations to animate second-generation Filipino Americans’ memories of their parents. Dear Watsonville is featured in Sowing Seeds: Filipino American Stories from the Pajaro Valley, an exhibition that explores Filipino labor and migration to the Pajaro Valley from the 1930s to the present.
