l Festival Internacional de Jazz y Blues de San Miguel de Allende está celebrando en este año la edición 31 y su evento mayor se llevará a cabo del miércoles 12 al domingo 16 de noviembre del 2025. Considerado como el de mayor trayectoria en todo México y uno de los más importantes en América Latina en estos géneros musicales. En este evento se realizarán Conciertos, Clases Maestras, (impartidas por artistas nacionales e internacionales), Ciclo de Cine, (alusivo al Jazz y el Blues) y “Jam Sessions” (“Palomazos”), actividad espontánea de los músicos invitados a compartir su expresión musical con los músicos locales, en diferentes restaurantes y bares de la localidad, convocando al visitante a vivir la experiencia, en un ambiente bohemio cultural, atractivo para el turista y para el público residente. El Festival arranca el miércoles 12 de Noviembre al medio día, con un Concierto Didáctico gratuito acerca de la ¨Historia y Apreciación del Jazz”, dirigido al público en general, particularmente a los jóvenes y estudiantes sanmiguelenses, que son el futuro inmediato de nuestra sociedad, en donde se convoca a varias escuelas a asistir como parte de sus prácticas escolares, en donde así como las visitas a museos, en esta ocasión sea a un concierto didáctico, permitiendo conocer los diversos géneros del Jazz y el Blues. Con ello estamos creando nuevos públicos y brindamos herramientas para disfrutar de esta música y entender su contexto histórico. En el concierto del Jueves 13 de Noviembre se presentará uno de los guitarristas y cantantes más destacados de la escena del Blues en México, Alfredo Vega, quien estará acompañado por “San Miguel Blues Collective”, agrupación compuesta por músicos nacionales e internacionales.

Para el viernes 14 de Noviembre, estará participando la cantante Italiana, Daniella Lazzeri, quien estará presentando un repertorio en distintos idiomas tales como el francés, portugués, inglés, español y por supuesto en italiano. El sábado 15 de Noviembre se estará presentándo una de las cantantes y painistas más destacadas de la ciudad de Nueva York, Alexis Cole. En opinión de una de la revistas especializadas de jazz, el “Jazz Times”, manifiesta lo siguiente: “Una voz de contralto profunda, tan suave y oscura como el espresso más rico”. Como cantante docente ha preparado profesionalmente a distinguidas cantantes tales como Lucy Wijnands, ganadora del la competencia Ella Fitzgerald, quien estuvo en este Festival hace un par de años y a Samara Joy, ganadora del premio Grammy. El concierto de clausura estará a cargo de una de las cantantes más importantes de la ciudad de México, Karely Esparza, quien estará presentando un programa de “Soul y Funk”, interpretando la música de Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, entre otros. ¡Será una gran fiesta! he San Miguel de Allende International Jazz and Blues Festival is celebrating its 31st edition this year, and its main event will take place from Wednesday, November 12th to Sunday, November 16th, 2025. It is considered the longest-running festival in Mexico and one of the most important in Latin America for these musical genres. This event will feature concerts, master classes (taught by national and international artists), a film series (referring to jazz and blues), and Jam Sessions (Palomazos), a spontaneous activity for invited musicians to share their musical expression with local musicians in various restaurants and bars. Visitors will be invited to experience the festival in a bohemian, cultural atmosphere that is attractive to tourists and local residents. The Festival kicks off on Wednesday, November 12th at noon with a free Educational Concert on the “History and Appreciation of Jazz,” aimed at the general public, particularly San Miguel youth and students, who are the immediate future of our society. Several schools are invited to attend as part of their school internships. Along with museum visits, this time we will participate in an educational concert, allowing them to learn about the various genres of jazz and blues. By doing so, we are creating new audiences and providing tools to enjoy this music and understand its historical context. The concert on Thursday, November 13th, will feature one of the most prominent guitarists and singers on the Mexican blues scene, Alfredo Vega, accompanied by the “San Miguel Blues Collective,” a group made up of national and international musicians.
On Friday, November 14th, Italian singer Daniella Lazzeri will perform, presenting a repertoire. in various languages such as French, Portuguese, English, Spanish, and of course, Italian. On Saturday, November 15th, will be performing one of New York City’s most prominent singers and pianist, Alexis Cole. According to one of the specialized jazz magazines, the “Jazz Times”, she states: “A deep contralto voice, as smooth and dark as the richest espresso.” As a teaching singer, she has professionally trained distinguished singers such as Lucy Wijnands, winner of the Ella Fitzgerald Competition, who was at this Festival a couple of years ago, and Grammy Award winner Samara Joy. The closing concert will be led by one of Mexico City’s most important singers, Karely Esparza, who will present a “Soul and Funk” program, interpreting the music of Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, among others. Se ha presentado en diversos Festivales en México, Cuba y Estados Unidos, acompañando a destacadas personalidades tales como el vibrafonista Dave Pike (Bill Evans, Herbie Mann) , el saxofonista Bob Sheppard (Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea), el cantante John Ronstadt (primo de la cantante Linda Ronstadt), el guitarrista Randy Bernsen (Zawinul Syndicate), el percusionista Roberto Vizcaíno (Irakere), el baterista Francisco Mela (Kenny Barron), el pianista Art Lande (Jan Garbarek), el oboista y saxofonista Paul McCandless (Oregon, Bela Fleck and The Flecktones), el ejecutante de Steel Drum, Othello Molineaux (Jaco Pastorius), el saxofonista Brice Winston (Wallace Roney), Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Luis Jesús “Chuchito” Valdés, entre otros. También ha participado como bajista de las cantantes nominadas y ganadoras del premio Grammy: Karrin Allyson, Magos Herrera y Lila Downs. Fundador del grupo de “San Miguel Jazz Cats”, al lado del guitarrista canadiense, Ken Basman, tocando juntos por más de 20 años. Ha participado activamente desde el año 1996 en el Festival Internacional de Jazz de San Miguel de Allende, ya sea como músico, director educativo, director musical y a partir del 2006 está a cargo de la dirección general, agregando el estilo del Blues al Festival. Becario de la Secretaría de Cultura por medio del FONCA (Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes) en el Programa de “Creadores Escénicos con Trayectoria” 2014- 2017. Ha presentado sus composiciones en diferentes foros y Festivales de Jazz en Campeche, Querétaro, León, Aguascalientes y San Miguel de Allende.

A
lfredo es originario de Pachuca, Hidalgo y también se le conoce como “The Wolf Blues Man”, debido a su voz similar al del legendario cantante y guitarrista de blues de los años 50´s,“Howlin´Wolf” (lobo aullador). Se ha presentado en diversos Festivales Musicales y escenarios nacionales, uno de ellos fue el Zócalo de la CDMX, ante miles de espectadores, en un evento especial presentado por la Secretaría de Cultura. Interpreta a los autores clásicos del Blues tales, como Muddy Waters, BB King, John Lee Hooker, Howlin´ Wolf, Albert King y también temas de su autoría.

“San Miguel Blues Collective” “San Miguel Blues Collective” es una agrupación que cuenta con más de 5 años y su fundador es Antonio Lozoya, quien reúne a un grupo de artistas de Blues que residen en San Miguel de Allende para dar paso a éste proyecto, en donde han participado artistas de diferentes nacionalidades. En esta ocasión contaremos con la participación del legendario baterista Rick Shlosser (Etta James, Edgar Winter, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, James Taylor, Diana Ross, por mencionar a algunos) y con el armonicista, guitarrista y cantante, Elihu Catalán (Radio Blues).

“San Miguel Blues Collective” is a group with over five years of history, founded by Antonio Lozoya. He brought together a group of blues artists residing in San Miguel de Allende to create this project, which has featured artists from various countries. This time, we will be joined by legendary drummer Rick Shlosser (who has played with Etta James, Edgar Winter, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, James Taylor, and Diana Ross, among others) and harmonica player, guitarist, and singer Elihu Catalán (Radio Blues).

aniella Lazzeri es una cantante políglota, compositora y artista multidisciplinaria de nacionalidad México-Italiana, proviene de una familia musical y desde su infancia ha tenido contacto con la música a nivel profesional, realizando presentaciones desde temprana edad. Durante 20 años se ha presentado en diversos escenarios y foros de toda la República Mexicana, así como en Italia y en Colombia. Su repertorio musical es muy diverso y gracias a su tono vocal, se adapta fácilmente a la música internacional, Jazz, Soul, al R&B y música Latinoamericana. Su participación en uno de los conciertos extraordinarios del Festival Internacional de Jazz y Blues de San Miguel de Allende a principios de año fue ovacionada por el público nacional e internacional, gracias a su gran versatilidad e interpretación.

Daniella Lazzeri is a multilingual singer, composer, and multidisciplinary artist of Mexican-Italian nationality. She comes from a musical family and has been involved with music professionally since childhood, performing from a young age. For 20 years, she has performed on various stages and in venues throughout Mexico, as well as in Italy and Colombia. Her musical repertoire is very diverse, and thanks to her vocal tone, she easily adapts to international music, including jazz, soul, R&B, and Latin American music. Her participation in one of the extraordinary concerts of the San Miguel de Allende International Jazz and Blues Festival earlier this year was met with a standing ovation from both national and international audiences, thanks to her great versatility and interpretation.

lexis Cole ha sido comparada con cantantes de jazz clásicos como Sarah Vaughan y Anita O’Day. Ganadora del Concurso Vocal Jazzmobile, con el jurado de íconos del jazz como TS Monk, Catherine Russell, Grady Tate y Dr. Billy Taylor, ganadora del tercer premio en el Concurso Vocal de Jazz de Montreux y finalista del Concurso Sarah Vaughan, Alexis cuenta con una docena de álbumes en su haber con Motéma, Chesky, Venus Records y Zoho. Ha grabado con artistas como Fred Hersch, Bucky Pizzarelli y Don Braden. Ha sido solista con la Boston Pops y la Orquesta Sinfónica de Detroit, y ha encabezado conciertos en clubes de Estados Unidos y Asia. Como docente, Alexis dirigió el departamento de jazz vocal en el conservatorio de SUNY Purchase y cuenta entre sus alumnas a la ganadora del Grammy Samara Joy y a la estrella emergente Anaïs Reno. Es la fundadora y directora de Jazz Voice, una comunidad educativa en línea que ofrece clases de canto, sesiones de desarrollo profesional y clases particulares impartidas por reconocidos vocalistas y educadores de jazz. Además, es cofundadora de la Cumbre de Jazz Vocal de Virginia Beach. Su último lanzamiento, “Jazz Republic: Taiwán, Estados Unidos y la Libertad del Swing”, incluye arreglos originales para big band y orquesta, interpretados por Alexis con la Orquesta de Jazz de Taipéi.

antante de Jazz, R&B y Soul mexicana, originaria de Culiacán, Sinaloa, quien ha compartido el escenario con grandes exponentes de la música latina como Armado Manzanero, Samo, Kalimba y con la cantante española Concha Buika, entre muchos más. Llegó a plantarse en el escenario y conquistar a los 4 coaches de “La Voz México”, impresionó a todos con su participación y quedó en la final como una ardua competidora. Es vocalista en la Big Band Jazz de México por más de 10 años, con quienes ha conquistado diversos escenarios dentro de la república mexicana y fuera de ella. Se ha presentado en El Lunario y el Pepsi Center frente a miles de espectadores en la Ciudad de México. También se presentó recientemente con la “Orquesta Sinfónica Sinaloa de las Artes”, en el marco del Festival Cultural Sinaloa 2025, recibiendo exclentes comentarios por su participación.

The San Miguel Jazz Festival (Fundación Jazz Fest SMA A.C.) is one of the most outstanding and most experienced in its kind in Mexico. It has been held every year since 1994 and it is one of the most important in Latin America. San Miguel Jazz Festival is a foundation created to support jazz and blues and to give a space to artists and share their music with the audience. National and international artists and Grammy nominees have performed at the festival. During the festival, we offer free activities like music workshops offered by our special guests, and film screenings, all of our activities are free to the public. MISIÓN Y OBJETIVOS Nuestra misión es consolidar y contribuir al crecimiento de los proyectos culturales hechos en México, particularmente aquellos relacionados con la cultura del jazz y del blues en San Miguel de Allende, exponiendo al público potencial tanto local como foráneo a este tipo de eventos, además de reforzar el enfoque educativo y cultural a través de talleres, conciertos, cursos, entre otras actividades. El objetivo principal del Festival, siempre será el de fortalecer nuestros los valores culturales en nuestro país. Al apoyarnos nos ayudas a realizar los siguiente: • Darle la oportunidad a artistas tanto locales como emergentes de presentar su trabajo ante una audiencia. • Presentar y celebrar a las leyendas del jazz y del blues. • Dar a conocer y mejorar la educación del jazz y del blues en escuelas y salones de clase.

MISSION & OBJECTIVES Our mission is to consolidate and contribute to the growth of cultural projects, in particular about the jazz and blues culture in San Miguel de Allende, exposing them consistently to potential audiences inside and outside the locality, encouraging the educational focus of culture through workshops, concerts, courses, conferences, among other activities. The main objective of the Festival is to strengthen our cultural values in our country. By supporting us you help to: • Provide opportunities for emerging and local artists • Showcase and celebrate jazz legends • Introduce and improve jazz education in classrooms and band programs by developing programs that expose students to jazz and blues music.
