Mexican officials have seized motorcycles worth $40m (£30m) belonging to Ryan Wedding, the Canadian former Olympic snowboarder who is accused of running a vast drug dealing operation. The vehicles were discovered by Mexican authorities over several raids, the FBI said in a statement, adding that the seizures came with assistance from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Los Angeles Police Department. The motorcycles appear to include rare racing models. Isiah Whitlock Jr, who was known for his memorable acting roles on The Wire and Veep, has died at the age of 71, according to his manager. "It is with tremendous sadness that I share the passing of my dear friend and client Isiah Whitlock Jr," manager Brian Liebman wrote on Instagram. Whitlock, who also featured in Goodfellas and The Chappelle Show, was a longtime collaborator with director Spike Lee, who also shared a heartfelt tribute to him. "Today I Learned Of The Passing Of My Dear Beloved Brother ISIAH WHITLOCK. GOD BLESS," Lee wrote, alongside a photo of the two men shaking hands. "If you knew him - you loved him. A brilliant actor and even better person," Mr Liebman wrote. "May his memory forever be a blessing. Our hearts are so broken. He will be very, very missed." In statements to Hollywood news outlets, he added that Whitlock passed away in New York after a short illness. On The Wire, Whitlock played a corrupt politician, and was known for his profane catchphrase, which Whitlock himself had developed. His elongated version of the common swear word was inspired by his uncle, he said in a 2008 interview.

he Trump administration said it has frozen child care payments for the state of Minnesota after a conservative YouTuber alleged that several centres run by Somali immigrants were taking public money without providing care. In a post on X on Tuesday, a top official with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) cited the viral video, and said the agency would target "blatant fraud that seems to be rampant in Minnesota". State officials have pushed back against allegations of fraud in the video. Immigration enforcement has recently ramped up in the state, home to the largest population of Somali immigrants in the US, after President Donald Trump said he didn't want them in the country. "We have frozen all child care payments to the state of Minnesota," HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O'Neill announced in an X post on Tuesday. He said this decision comes amid "serious allegations that the state of Minnesota has funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to fraudulent daycares across Minnesota over the past decade". The department said it would suspend the annual payment of $185m (£137m) to the state, pending a full review of the centres in question. O'Neill's post added that HHS would introduce a "defend the spend" system for all future payments to every state. This would require "justification and a receipt or photo evidence before we send money to a state", he said. The video by Nick Shirley, which has received millions of views across multiple social media platforms since being posted over the weekend, accused nearly a dozen centres of not providing any services or having any children present when Mr Shirley visited.

The Walt Disney Company will pay $10m (£7.4m) to resolve claims that it broke children's privacy laws by failing to label some YouTube videos as made for children, allowing for targeted advertising. Disney had agreed to a settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission in September to resolve an inquiry into its collection of children's personal data. The FTC had argued that, as a result of Disney's alleged failure to properly label children's videos, kids received targeted advertising and had their data collected without parental notice and consent.

The 2025 Survey of Immigrants, conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation in partnership with The New York Times, found that nearly 32 percent of H-1B visa holders said they avoided travel—both domestic and international, out of concern over potential encounters with immigration authorities. Indians make up the largest share of H-1B workers in the U.S., placing them at the center of this growing unease. Overall, about 27 percent of immigrants surveyed said they altered or cancelled travel plans to reduce the risk of immigration enforcement. The hesitation extends well beyond undocumented immigrants, reflecting what researchers describe as a broader climate of anxiety affecting even legally present and naturalized immigrants. The trend coincides with the Trump administration’s stepped-up immigration enforcement, which has expanded scrutiny at airports, border crossings, and other transit points. Increased inter-agency data sharing and enhanced vetting have made travel a flashpoint for immigrant communities that once viewed it as routine. While fear is most acute among undocumented immigrants—nearly

That fear has been compounded by recent policy shifts that have disproportionately affected Indian nationals. In July, the U.S. State Department eliminated remote and third-country renewals for H-1B and

H-4 visas, forcing applicants to travel to their home countries—primarily India—for visa stamping. The move flooded U.S. consulates with applications. In September, President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a $100,000 fee on new H-1B applications, followed by expanded social media screening by early December. The changes strained embassy operations across India, triggering widespread appointment cancellations and delays. A report by Mid-Day stated that according to the commercial suit filed on December 12, PPL India says the episodes included popular tracks without securing the necessary licences from the rights holders. The episodes in question featured ‘M Bole To’ from Munna Bhai MBBS (2003), ‘Rama Re’ from Kaante (2002), and ‘Subha Hone Na De’ from Desi Boyz (2011). PPL India states the use of these songs amounts to “public performance/ communication to the public” under the Indian Copyright Act, which requires a licence.

Despite repeatedly complaining of worsening pain, he was made to wait in the triage area until around 8:50 pm. During this time, his blood pressure reportedly rose to 210, yet he was only given Tylenol and no emergency care. Niharika claimed hospital staff dismissed chest pain as nonacute and did not suspect a heart attack. After hours of waiting, Sreekumar was finally taken inside the emergency area, where he collapsed moments later. Nurses attempted resuscitation, but he was pronounced dead. Sreekumar’s father said his son rated his pain as “15 out of 10” and begged for help. President Donald Trump has said the US launched a "powerful and deadly strike" against the Islamic State (IS) group in north-western Nigeria. The US leader described IS as " terrorist scum", accusing the group of "targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians".

Trump said the US military "executed numerous perfect strikes", while the US Africa Command (Africom) later reported that Thursday's attack was carried out in co-ordination with Nigeria in the Sokoto state. Chicago Police Warn of Robberies Involving Fake Donation Requests HiIndia Newsdesk

CHICAGO, IL -Chicago police are alerting River North residents, workers, and visitors following a series of robberies in which offenders allegedly used deception to gain access to victims’ cellphones before electronically stealing money. According to the Chicago Police Department, multiple incidents were reported throughout December in the 600 block of North Dearborn Street. In these cases, victims told officers they were approached by groups of men who initially appeared non-threatening. The suspects reportedly asked victims to make a donation or requested that they follow them on social media platforms such as Instagram. Once the suspects convinced victims to hand over their phones, police say they quickly accessed

financial apps and transferred money using digital payment services including Zelle and Apple Pay. In several cases, victims were unaware of the theft until after the suspects fled the scene. Police further reported that when victims hesitated or refused to cooperate, the encounters escalated. In at least one incident, a victim was forcibly led toward a larger group of offenders, where personal property was taken by force. Authorities said the robberies occurred between December 13 and December 21, primarily during overnight and early-morning hours, a time when foot traffic is lighter and visibility may be reduced. The suspects are described as three to eight Black men, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, last seen wearing dark-colored clothing.

NEW YORK, NY -As New Yorkers gear up for the holiday season, the New York State Department of Health is alerting residents to a sharp rise in flu cases across New York City. NEW YORK, NY -An unidentified man is accused of assaulting a woman with a laptop during an unprovoked attack aboard a Manhattan subway train, according to police. The incident occurred on December 9 at approximately 10:20 a.m. on an uptown W train as it approached the Rector Street station in the Financial District. Police said the 65-year-old woman had been speaking with the suspect prior to the attack. At some point during the conversation, the man allegedly removed a laptop from his backpack and struck the woman multiple times in the head. Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to NewYorkPresbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition. Authorities said the suspect remained on the train following the assault and was last seen exiting at the Canal Street station, where he fled on foot.
