Summer At The Academy Course Catalog 2026

Page 1

Welcome

Since Summer At The Academy was launched 38 years ago, it has been one of the most successful programs of its kind in the country. Each year, hundreds of girls and boys from South Texas and beyond attend a diverse array of classes taught by the area’s top educators, coaches, entrepreneurs, and artisans. Our eight-week enrichment program for children ages 4 through 14 provides excellent opportunities to create, learn, explore, and have fun!

San Antonio Academy of Texas is located just north of downtown at 117 East French Place, between Main Avenue and McCullough at the gateway to the Monte Vista Historic District. Our tree-shaded, seven-acre campus provides an excellent environment for classroom studies as well as outdoor activities. There are many great choices: science, language arts, technology, crafts, math, cooking, fine arts and performance classes. The Summer At The Academy 2026 catalog will be available for viewing on our website on Friday, February 27, and online registration begins Friday, March 6.

We anticipate the return of our former students, and look forward to welcoming new students to our campus. For further information, please call (210) 736-5876.

If a class is canceled by The Academy due to conditions beyond our control (e.g., weather, water/electricity issues, health protocols, etc.), we will make every effort to inform our Summer families as soon as possible. No refunds will be given and the tuition is not transferable to another class. Each time a confirmed class is changed, a $15 fee will be charged. We are unable to give refunds or adjust schedules due to absences, illness, etc.

DROP-OFF/PICK-UP

Drop-off and pick-up will be through the driveway between the Stribling and Franklin Houses near Main Avenue. Please enter French Place from McCullough Avenue to keep vehicle traffic moving smoothly across the front of our campus. After drop-off at the Pavilion, students will be escorted at all times by summer staff. We ask that parents picking up Kids Place campers please avoid pickup between 3:00–3:30 PM, as this is the time when parents are picking up students who have finished their afternoon classes, and traffic is very heavy.

SUMMER ATTIRE

Campers should dress comfortably — we recommend t-shirts and shorts or long pants, as well as sneakers. Remember, fun can sometimes be messy, and our summer temperatures are very warm!

SECURITY/SAFETY FIRST

Our campus is staffed with trained and certified security personnel who monitor access to the campus. There is an RN/ LVN on duty from 7:30 AM–6:00 PM, who administers prescribed medication and responds to medical emergencies. A physician is on call at all times for medical service and to advise our personnel on all first aid and nursing services provided by Summer At The Academy.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

If a student displays unacceptable behavior, parents will be notified immediately. This notification may be followed by removal from the program with no refund(s).

POLICY REGARDING ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND OTHER NON-ALLOWED ITEMS

Items such as cell phones, laptops, gaming units, DVD players, and wheeled sneakers are not allowed on campus during Summer At The Academy.
