The Global Innovations on Youth Violence, Safety and Justice Program, launched in 2021, is a multi-year effort to tackle youth violence, promote youth safety, and advance justice reform across jurisdictions. Bringing together global stakeholders—including young adults and formerly incarcerated individuals—the Program has compiled leading research, collected in-depth case studies from diverse geographies, and identified dozens of innovative, evidence-based practices.

• Adopt a whole systems approach by engaging a wide array of stakeholders—e.g., education, health, social care, community policing—to support youth and address the causes of violence holistically.
• Consider new metrics—e.g., social trust—to better track the impact of reforms.
• Fund preventative work to reap the social and financial benefits of investing in youth early, which include preventing the social costs of violence and reducing the financial burden on the criminal justice system.
